Really random.... anyone chop or sample any of these artist

Hey guys-- I was digging through some old records and theres a couple of really cool artists i think should be sampled more. Just wondering if any of you have made any songs featuring these artists, or know of any songs that feature there either Frankie Valli or The Eagles.

Man frankie's got so many songs that would be great. For those of you who don't know the song Beggin (recently featured on a addias commercial) is originally his song. It became a huge hit and gave Madcon a lot of success.

hey hey no reason to hate on my cool name. thanks for the de la soul track though. And ya i am pretty new too diggin. having a hard time userstanding what makes a good sample. lots of times my chops are sounding sloppy and sketchy

Use your ears, and use free resources like The-Breaks.com and YouTube to see how artists have made the samples fit into what they were working on.

For instance listen to something heavily sampled like James Brown's Funky Drummer or The Honey Drippers Impeach the President and see how different artists have used it. S

ee if you can pick out the samples in the music and then figure out how they made them work.

Sup Fam, I'm not going to lie. I've been digging for about a year now and I don't even know the artists you named so..you're not the only one in the boat.

Just go with your eye. If the cover has something that appeals to you go with your intuition and get it.

The cover can lie to you. Look at the cover of the winstons /color him father LP. I wouldn't buy this record if I wouldn't know there's heat on it.
I also bought a record of various polish artists I didn't know and the back of the record got no infos but the cover was really a colorful crazy psychedelic kind of painting. This record is on of the worst records I ever bought.

Learn about all the artists you there are paths to wal on. You like Bob James? Ok who played Drums on Bob James records? Right, Steve Gadd. Then go buy records with Steve Gadd on Drums and look for the other musicians.

If you dont know any of the musicians on a record you can look at the instruments. Look for Moog or ARP Synths or Clavinet or whatever you like.

Look for song names. There are some songs covered by many people and most versions are good or interesting or sampleable. "Get out my life woman" for example.

Whern you are a beginner, dont go for the expensive records. You'll have to learnhow much the records are worth. Dont pay 20$ for a record you could find in a dollar bin somewhere else.

Yeah as mentioned the Breakbeat from the Grease OST By Frankie Valli.... and we all know about Beggin' by Frankie and the Four seasons... The Pilooski Edit is better than the original now...

"Those shoes" by the Eagles would be a good start for anyone wanting an Eagles break.

Peter Piper is right, only give a cover about 20% of your reason for checking something, the date can also be somewhat misleading I got some late 70's early 80's records that are ill, but I used to always look for records between '68-'75 for the best engineering and production sounds...
I've been lucky with my Polish Records, everything I chance bought has come up trumps, but a lot of my diggin' friends went to Poland in the early 90's anyway and came back with DOPENESS.

But instruments tell you alot, after checking the date WORD ... If it says 12 String Guitar or Banjo than I'll leave it, but if it's says Minimoog, ARP, Clav or Fender Rhodes than, you know what do to... Anyway when I'm diggin' in shops I take my GP-3 Portable.
But online diggin, you gotta know your shit...!
