well i promised so here it is...

so lets hop right in,,first lets start with the brand spankin new deck,,look at that baby shine, woohoo

Image

ok first you want to start by taking the platter off..to do this just lift by pulling on the open holes on the platter..it should pop right off.

Image

then there will be 5 screws in the plastic inner base that need to be removed and once removed it should look like this

Image

right about now is when you want to grab these things..

Image
Image

those are going to be used to write down what you remove and the bags are to hold everything.

ok grab a pillow and lay it on the ground and flip your deck upside down on top of it and remove the four feet like so

Image

ok now there will be 18 screws that need to be removed,,thats all of them,,there are three different sizes and they end up in three easy to find places,,so you can label a bag as "bottom screws" and remove all of them and put them in your bag..the three should look like this

Image
Image
now you get it!!!!

ok now wiggle or press on the sides,,or do whatever it takes to get the bottom off,,it should come off rather easy..and then you'll be looking at this here

Image

then depending on the deck,,look to see how many screws you will need to remove,,almost every deck ive done has been different..but you do "not" need to remove the 4 screws for the dust cover hinges..eventualy you will end up with this here:

Image

so pull the wires through the plate and get the base and the plate out of the way for now..

hey look what i found Image

ok now flip it back over and set it on the pillow and remove these three harness'

Image
Image
Image

ok now remove the pitch fader knob and flip it back over and remove the 2 screws holding the pitch fader in place.(notice the wire from tone arm)leave it be for now.

Image

now that thats out we'll move on to removing the power pcb.
there are two main screws on top,,a silver one and a red one..remove the silver one for now and the three main ones in the plastic..

Image

and then there is a little screw in the power switch that needs to be removed.

Image

now pull the switch up and off the board like so

Image

now you should be able to press from undernieth and raise the board out like so.
(((remember to put these parts in labeled bags)))

Image

now for the tonearm..there are three main screws that hold it in,,you'll notice them easily,,remove these and then lift up the deck and the arm will drop, then just feed the wires through until its completely out.

Image
Image
Image

next, well move to the pop up light,,there are only two screws holding this in place..remove them then pull up from the bottom and it will lift right out.

Image
Image

ok now that thats all out of the way,,flip your deck back over so now were looking at the top again..right???i hope so..i had to..

ok so now theres three screws in this pcb board that need to be removed and also there are three screws in that black circle called a motor,,that need to be removed.

Image

then there are two screws in this board that need to be removed. this is your power board,,most have fuses but this deck is wow old..
Image

then this is the psu,and there are three screws that need to be removed (hint: lift up on the motor to get to third screw)

Image

now remove the two power cord plate screws
Image

also remove the screws holding the connector down
Image

now pull your power cord through the top of the deck like so and then lift all three of those things out at once until you get this.
Image
Image

now you should have your spindle still in the deck..remove this now
Image

voila,,empty deck..
Image

ok...getting mad tired,,i'll be back for part 2 tommorrow..peace out people!!!!

PART 2

ok lets start with the power control board
Image

your going to want to remove the c-clip from the bottom of the power knob like so.
Image

and then be careful because there is a little spring and a very small ball bearing inside the white piece,it looks like this.
Image

and then you should be able to flip it over and remove the strobe assembly like so.
Image
Image
Image
Image

ok now that thats apart,,lets use that dish washer...just so we can get things clean and give it plenty of time to dry..
Image
Image
better allready..

ok..lets move on to replacing that old lamp style power cord..

sorry i already de-soldered old one..but here is what it should look like after de-soldering.
Image

then you want to solder the new one on..remember..((white on left,,black on right)) "from this view"
(read this),,before you solder new power cord on..be sure to put your power cord plate back on...also get a gromet from lowes to fit the cord and hole in plate..
Image
Image
Image
thats it,,finished..

ok now lets move to the pitch fader...you can do this a couple different ways...if you want to de-solder the whole fader out,you can,,or you can do as i did and just remove the top cover..to do this,,you will need to pry the little tabs down on the bottom..like so..
Image

now remove the top, keeping the fader its self inside the case like this:
Image
Image

now you'll notice a tiny hole in one side of the fader...this is your pitch click..if you want to remove it just push the fader out of the case like so..be careful as there is a spring loaded ball inside..thats the click ball..
Image
Image

now clean it..
Image
Image
Image
Image

now when you put it back together,,just line the hole on the fader case with the hole on the fader,,like so.
Image

now put your case back on and pry the tabs back down to hold tight..all clean with no pitch click..

ok i'll be back with more...

would it be possible to make a document for this? cos in about 6 months these images will no longer be visible and then no one will be able to see your genius

^very welcome..

and so we move on to installing the led..i took the green one out and installed a blue one (2mmx5mm rectangle led)
the longer leg of the led goes on the AWAY side of the fader..and then when inserted into the pcb, flip it over and press the legs of the led down on the solder tabs and solder them in..."you'll see how it goes"
Image
Image
Image
all done,,fader completely ready to go now..

ok lets move on to re-building the tonearm..

ok start by removing th four screws on the bottom,,the two in the cord holder clip and the two in the base plate.
Image

once you got that removed, you'll be looking at this.
Image
(this is how it looks, externally grounded,we are going to internally ground it)

ok now de-solder every wire you see on the pcb board except for the tiny tonearm wires,,and be very careful to not burn them.

(i hope you guys are labeling bags full of screws and parts by now,,please insert yes here)

ok now you have the rca and ground/less tonearm in your hand..flip it upside down and remove the stoping plate,as shown here.
Image
Image
Image

now you should be able to take off the lift ring and tonearm base..just spin them off..note that one spins clockwize and one spins counter clockwize..cant remember wich one,,but you'l see easy enough..
..so now you should have this here.
Image
Image

ok now run to radio shack and buy some better wire,,,choice is up to you but i do recomend a smaller guage wire than stock..
if you look here you can compare the two stockers to my two newbies.
Image

now all i did was measure the same exact length on the longer of the two wires and cut to size..then you want to solder that longer wire to right here.
Image
Image

now i took the shorter wire,,"""wich will be the key to internally grounding the deck""" and made it a tad shorter than the original,as it wont be going to the same place..make that wire about an inch long and solder it here..just in this one place for now.
Image
Image
Image

now..while you were at radio shack you bought those rca's i told you to buy right....hahahah got ya..now go back out and get them,,i know i had to my first time also...hehe.
ok so heres the cables i get,,i usualy do two decks at a time so i buy the 12 footers and cut them in half and save 10 bux..
Image
Image

ok now heres where some fun comes in..just a little for now,,just wait..
ok heres a pic post of how to splice these wires correctly..do just as shown and you'll be good.
Image
Image
Image

and then heres how you want to be looking at everything..////red on right/// white on left////
Image

ok to do this right the first time..(you will definetly need soldering skills and a decent iron and good solder)
ok first things first....take the white wire and make sure there is only about a 1/4inch of wire showing and solder that into place
IMPORTANT:::now the ground wires on the rcas are going to be longer than where they need to be soldered to,because everything was cut one length, and the solder points arent at the same distance,,,,so cut the ground (thats the wires on the outside of the white and red wires) to the same size as where the solder points are....please use this pic carefuly to judge your self.
Image

now solder the 1/4 inch of red wire to its corresponding tab....also again view this pic...and notice that the ground from the red side of the rca,and the small 1 inch wire are not attached to anything...
Image

now take the small 1 inch wire and the ground from the red side of the rca and solder both of them to the rca tab like so
Image
Image

there you go..no more ground wire,,you just by-passed it,,,ok now take a ziptie,,this is important..and insert it like so,,make sure to go under the pcb..
Image
Image
Image

up to you but i hope you painted this while it was off..
Image

ok,,grab some grease,,heres what i use.
Image

then you want to put some on the outer threads of the tonearm lift ring like so
Image
Image

then spin it back inside of the base and put some grease on the inner threads...you dont need a lot,,just enough to fill the thread.
Image
Image
Image

then replace the tonearm,,,,,

BIG IMPORTANT HERE:::: when you screw your tonearm back into the base,,check your riser numbers because the base can go on four different ways,,,when everything is tight the mark should be on zero..

Image
bamola,,brand new cables,,feels nice dont it,,,i hope you took total advantage of cleaning everything while it was apart...

now flip that sucker back over cause we got more work to do..
..with everything in place,,it should look like this..with the wires in the opening like so
Image

now replace the stoping plate...im sorry i forgot to take pics of this part..
oh and i also hope you took advantage of painting the tonearm base plate like i did
Image

now replace the plate to its original place..you will see how this goes dont forget to make sure the longer wire that isnt attached to anything goes through the opening.
now take a pair of needle nose pliers and pry one of the rca hold-down tabs up on the plate and grab another ziptie,,this time a smaller one...and run it through he hole and around the wire like so.
Image
Image
Image
Image

ok now every deck is a little different so watch how you put your wires because you dont want your weight plate pinching them,,heres how mine went.
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

now put those three screws back into the tonearm to hold it in place and put the two screws into the fader to hold it in place,,make sure to attach your wire to the one screw on the fader..

bam,,,your halfway there...i'll be back and show you how to change your lights and pop-up and stuff asap..but for now,,good night to all !!!!!!!
