I was hunting on the local Kijiji classified online and came across an ad for "custom bulk vinyl record orders"

Naturally I had to check it out.

So this is what this Husband/Wife team does: They ask you for preferred artists, genre's, record labels etc. Taking your list they them assemble bulk "stax" of records (120-250 units, all LP's) for an extremely sweet price. I was quoted $100 cdn for the 250 stack and was told "half are sealed".

I'm going to pick up my stack in an hour, and I threw them a rather extensive list half of which I'm sure this guy won't be able to fill.. but we'll see.

If it all works out I'll post up the dig once I get back. Wish me luck.

These people are mid-40's so I don't suspect shadyness, but I'm bringin back up just in case.

Not too bad after all.

He got about 30% of what I was looking for. The rest is stuff I mostly havent heard of.. alot of it I'm sure is familiar to many here.

Couple highlights:

"The In Crowd" - Ramsey Louis Trio

"Boogie Woogie Mood, piano solo's" - Pete Johnson

"Jimmy Smith at the Organ" - Jimmy Smith

Those are few I meant to skim through but ended up listening to the whole thing. I already have like 30 albums I'm down with so definately a good score. I'm sure there's more in there I haven't heard yet.

Anybody in the Toronto area needs to check this cat out, he knows his shiz.

Except I didn't spend a buck or 2, I spent $80 and I got like 300 records not 3.

The 3 I mentioned were some highlights of the records he threw in that I didn't order. I'd never heard them before and was happy with them when I first listened. I knew they were fairly common, the artists were big in their time. believe, if I found sometihng rare I most likely wouldn't post it up here- no offence.

All the records are in excellent shape. A few covers are a little shoddy but otherwise they are next to mint condition. NONE have any scratches and max out my mixer's peak- meaning they have barely/never been played.

Yup no problem, when I get home I'll send it- don't have dudes number with me.

Yeah I know him, I grabbed some from him before I found the custom guy. He's ok but he lost points with me because he said he had this stack all set for me, but when I showed up he fkukin sold it to one of his "preferred customers" that happened to show up at random 1/2 hour before I did. Thats why i said he's garbage. But if you made out alright, good on ya.

I actually wanted to clock the guy in the head for wasting my time. I still walked out of there with a stack (at a discount) but it didn't come close to the one he bigged up to me. People like that will never get return biz from me, they can't be trusted.

You need to link with his supplier if you can, he's the one with the REAL ish

I'm sorry to say that but as a digger this is YOUR job. You'll never know whats inside. I would never ever buy a record without checking it. Could also be the correct record but totaly warped or "scratchy" as hell.

peace

While I agree, I don't.

If you order specific records, you should expect that they are legit. especially ordering mass quantities. Yeah, if I'm at a store I definately check but I didn't here because I wasn't afforded the opportunity.

Two lessons learned: 1) dude is BS 2) always check the wax inside
