Hello UK!

where does everyone else dig around here?

Shop-wise, there's a stall in my local market. He's specialises in rock/metal, so that's stuff is pricy, then everything else goes into his £1 bin - but that stuff is all stuff I've seen a million times before. It's all record club stuff. I swear there must have only been about 10 different albums available in the UK between 1970 1990, and they were all James Last and Tijuana Brass.

Then there's the Diskery in Brum - been there a few times, spent hours there the other day, but everything is so pricy - there's no grunge to dig through and grab bargains though, the only real cheapo stuff is the same James Last and Cliff Richard £1 bin I can get at my local market. Came out with 3 albums, 2 of which were over £10 - and not as great as I remembered them to be when I heard them in the shop -hate when that happens.

Then you got car boots and charity shops, which are hit and miss, and are yet another James Last bonanza. My best stuff really comes from listening to stuff on ebay, and getting it through there.

I was thinking about rocking up to Nottingham and going through Robs Records, but it's a mission to get there for me, so don't know if there's somewhere better I can be aiming for.

Anyone got any UK digging success stories that will get me going again? Think I'm suffering from post Dikery meltdown at the moment. Arg.

Maybe I just expect too much for my pennies...

Jim Beats – Not really complaining, just saying I’m not really having much luck the way I’m going about it at the moment, and was looking for a few ideas of places to try. Where have you heard about in London? I could head in that direction next time I’m looking.

Where should I head if I go to Manchester?

The Soho area in London has quite a few.
Out near my house in King's Lynn, Suffolk there is "The Record Shop". Closed on Sunday's.
Birmingham is my secret spot for record stores also. Shhhhhhhh! Don't tell anyone.

Diggin' in London?

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=129025

Watch the KOB video in the first post.

Watch (and listen) closely and you will see (and hear) the name and location of one of the best places to go diggin' in town.

Although I do not dig myself, I have been there and can tell you that you wont find a bigger selection of used/ old vinyl in the city. If there is one I'm yet to hear about it.

EDIT:

I thought the record store featured in the video was the MUSIC AND VIDEO EXCHANGE (Notting Hill) but it may well be the Berwick Street store...

There are several branches located throughout London, they are found in popular/ tourist/ trendy places such as:

208 Camden High Street London NW1 8QR

38-42 Notting Hill Gate London W11 3HX

23 Greenwich Church Street London SE10 9BJ

95 Berwick Street London W1
