BE CAREFUL when buying repressed albums or New vinyl

I recorded some instrumentals from Pete Rock's "The Surviving Elements" record for play in various media players.

DIRTY bastards must have figured a way to watermark vinyl because when i went to name the track to save it, the computer already had the info (artist, track name, length, album title, etc) before I typed it.

I was pretty shocked, anybody else come across this?

What are you using for software that did this? iTunes, SoundForge...? You sure that the recording software isn't using a service like Shazam to just get that info for you? Be curious to know what tech is involved to get that to happen.

"Watermarked" vinyl? The dudes that come up with the technology to do that (using regular cartridges) should solve the JFK murder and cure cancer while they're at it.

It shouldn't be too hard to overlay additional inaudible information to a waveform to be recorded which could even be read by a stylus, much like RDS data on FM radio stations if you ever heard of that. Although I highly doubt that's the case here.

What would really be great is if .gifs could be 'watermarked' to show things like the woman's name, where to find more pics and if she's ever done porn
