He is a record store owner and he acquired some records and he began to sell them. yeah thats so wrong.
I think he said from the get go that he planned to donate some of the proceeds to the fam and foundation.
The issue is that we hiphop fans and heads are so passionate about those that we revere as legends that we spin out of control and perceive any interaction with our culture from outsiders as a threat. So we go into "nest mode" and protect our own. Rock and Roll's history made us like that. we dont want this taken from us too. I say dont worry yall we live in the information age. This is the day of many forms of documentation. They cant take hiphop or Dilla from us.
As for the personal items i agree that this is a good opportunity for the Dilla foundation to take possession and start their own Dilla museum/attraction of sorts like "HitsVille" or "Graceland". Build it market it make loot from it forever while cementing Dilla name in the annals of time even further. If they were smart they would make record of all of the record collections for as if for a museum showing and maybe hold on to a few that are descriptive of Dilla versatility and then auction the rest off. The record store makes money and the Foundation makes money and some lucky fans somewhere gets a piece of history as if collecting art.
