Yo, has any of you had succes sampling from blues records? My dad has tons so I tried. Only used one record so far, and it's only some guitar notes in the intro..

They never seem to have 'bright' melodies or sounds at all..

So.. anyone more succes?

In my opinion, it's one of the hardest style of music to sample, but I got some dope samples a few times. Look for records with horns, rather than just guitar, bass drums or harp. I got good samples with people like Albert Collins, Buddy Guy...

if you can find some open guitar licks, you're good to go... just listen to Cypress Hill's first album...

I sample the Blues a lot, its just having a good ear and knowing what to do with the material. Half my catalog is from Blues records. The fast paced stuff sounds really good at lower pitches and the slow stuff sounds good at high pitches. 60's Blues are sureshots like Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Missisipi etc.
