sticking sampled joints on the wall

a few dudes i know stick sampled joints on the wall

always looks awesome, not sure what they do when there looking for that sample though

Any else do this?

like the lp?

I used to take the LP's out and just put them in plain 12" covers. Then just affix the record covers in plastic sleeves to the wall using the sleeve corners to mount.

One shop I worked in had tons of framed joints hung up for sale. They were only the LP sleeve covered in the price, but over half the time the record would be in there. I saw the store jerk itself a few times off that. But I hated the owner and management and loved seeing the customers get a nice unexpected come up, so I never told them how stupid they were to not check book value if the record was intact.

right on!! imagine buying a framed OG press of something and it had a LP in it :O

seantastic - yeh, maybe not the record itself, but the sleeves, like metatron said.

Just wondered how many do it, i tend to re-dig through my own wax when i am broke and cant dig in stores, and have a tendency to pull out the same ish, thought throwing sleeves on the wall might be a good way to not over sample artist's ect

will i actually do it>? probably not, i still need to sort my vinyl haha

while i got you two here, do i go alphabetically or by genre?

i got hiphop / talking / spoken shit in one section
breaks in another
and "records i have yet to sample" section

but the rest is either gunna be alpha or genre!

I had a couple hangen on the wall.. then I realized music wise my ear changes every 3-4 months, and i'll go back to the record and be like "schit, missed that sample..." so now I just keep all of em in their respectable alphabetical order ... however, I do keep the hilarious looking records up on the walls...ones that I'll never sample... that should have never been stamped to begin with.

Whether I had the cover tacked or in the stacks, more than once I had to tackle homies with scissors getting ready to make it into a KRS Halloween mask.

i just kinda keep covers im feelin on the front of the expidit shelf displaying the cover forward... right in front of the other records it was shelved with...


was kinda funny when i saw babu had the same fletch album cover displayed like that on his shelf at his spot... mine was out recently too...

of all recs to be "displayed" in common with babu... the fukn fletch record...

I can't lie, I should make a copy of the cover and make the mask, it's literally exactly the size of KRS's head circa 1989. There's a life size profile view on the backside too.

Can't call it. Anything I've posted in that wacky LP cover thread are not joints I actually have.

I want to get back into digging hardcore but I'm trying to get off the east and go back to Cali where I lived for many years. Just getting my equipment and even a modest vinyl collection moved will be tough enough. So I've sadly not been acquiring new vinyl for some time now.

If I ever do make the KRS mask hopefully it's a template from Kinko's I can post for the whole world to partake in. I got a Rakim UK import that would make a good mask too.

sounds like its pretty tough moving over there?
I am worried about shifting my vinyl, just figured id keep my milk crates in my shed when i got my expedit, least that way i can crate them again and do a few loads in the car / truck ..........without the famous expedit failure

Must be pretty hard going shifting interstate? (i mean our "interstate" is usually max distance of 2720km's roughly (one side to the other, baby!)

I want to move to US one day, mainly for the legal weed thing lol i cannot imagine shipping my records though, would have to start again (and just take my drums )

Yeah it's NY to Cali I'm talking here so it's a bit of a production. When I left in '07 I was just MIDI controllers and a desktop and my vinyl, brought one 1200 back. Now I have 5 hardware samplers and two workstations and a much heavier desktop and monitor(s) (video and audio).

But I hope you do make it out here peeping tom. It's SF/Oakland where I used to live (more than few forum members are out there, but I got on here after moving). But maybe someday we can meet on Haight on the dispensary and go rape Amoebas healthy bins.

Like I mentioned in the vinyl shipping thread, my pieces made the nearly 3000 mile trip in perfect shape. And I used boxes much larger than the typical shorter boxes used to ship to retail.

I keep my important/expensive records well hidden in my collection. The only record I got shown on my wall is my DJ Jazzy Jeff autographed 12" of "Just One of Those Days".

My massive record collection has made it from Chicago to Phoenix to England to California to South Korea back to England to Qatar and now Las Vegas. I think I lost 2 crates of detroit techno records in all of the moves.
