The best instruments are from....

help newcomers like me with getting our basic instruments. like what artist/label you would recommend pulling drums/strings/blines etc. off of. not recomending giving away your secret mojo but just to give me a little helping hand cause im really stuck on drums right now being that alot of my dads old vinyls are being held hostage by my dad in our basement. so ive taken it upon myself to try and go out to get vinyl on my own.
any hints/tips are well appreciated

If u want dope drums go, on-line there are a few cats that sell cd's full of drums.

but as for bass im also curious? anyone know how/where j-dilla and pete rock were getting bass from around volume 2 era, cos that shit is prestige I aint heard better bass.

Tell him you aint scratchin on em. My mom wouldnt let me touch her records cuz she thought i was scratchin with em. She didnt know what the **** samplin is.

Just cos someone asks a question like this, dont mean they aint diggin

they might be in the crates everyday but end up picking up the wrong records.

when u go diggin its good to know what to look for cos that way u save money.

There 's plenty of nice drums of cheap common records.

ie
Bette Midler
Boz Scaggs
Bryan Ferry
Deep Purple etc...

there are drums everywhere.

the rest is secret.

seriously though, you can pick any dollar record and use it....and if you know how to work it, you can use it.

so no label will help you out....i dont look for labels unless i want something specific. but in the end, labels mean shit for me, cause my best shit is off some label ive never seen and nobody can probably name.

rock labels for drums,
jazz labels for piano, organ, horns.
orchestral for orchestral
bass lines you gotta get creative, but usually funk will help.

its so hard to say on all these cause there are just so many records you can use for something.......i fell retarded tryin to categorizes instruments.

anyways, basslines i dont look for. I "discover" them.....along my travels for everything else. Id recomend one of MPC Tutors bass sample packs or buy a synth with good bass. Cause its easier. I build my melodies from samples then make my own basslines to them.....if i find a good bassline or something i can use as one, then ill use it...but my tracks arent waiting for me to find some bassline off a record......

Essentials i always have are: Set of drums ready to rip...and a bass multisample. If i need to change drums later i will....if i find some good ones, ill add to my collection. GOt the bass ready to add to my tracks. Otherwise i discover everything else....its kind of like christmas everyday at my house!
