Is it possible that sampling is older than we think? this record I found dates back to 1975 I know synths were used back then but sampled drums? please listen to this break I sampled and tell me.

http://www27.brinkster.com/mathewsjr02/ ... 0Break.wav

They sound quantized like they were don't on a machine but they sound too real to be synth.

I won't tell u what record I got this from but I'll show more breaks from this record that sound sampled.

Your link don't work homes...

And to be honest the first recorded efforts of sampling date back to the 40s... Karlheinz Stockhausen and Pierre "Something" (I forgot it... It's not Boulez, but it's of those other composer's) used to sample from old reel to reels and make loops... Then cue them from tape machines and use them in live performances as well as on studio recordings... They also would cut their own grooves into vinyl recordings to force it back into a loop (Damn that's dedication)... I mean the technology wasn't there, but they were doin it...

They even messed with teh circuitry of their amplifiers to filter frequencies out and sh*t... So sampling does go back a ways...

The link works fine for me.
it could very well be a Mellotron. The mellotron was a synth with a tapeloop on each key. It could play back anything recorded on the tape, and they had 14 drumsounds too.
They looked a lot better than they sounded too.
