ive remixed whole albums before , still do it. made 5 beats using one song on an album alone, when im really in the zone. this is why you pay some cash for those nice jazz funk albums :D . ive picked 10 records before and made 60 minute beat tapes using only those records. it just depends how in the zone you are that day

it also has to do with what types of records you are picking up obviously. if its a 3 man rock band and dudes are wearing athletic accesories like wristbands and headbands, you probably wont find one useable snippet

the portable turntable is an invaluable tool

(BTW i think dcyhper is about right on the hit rate: around 50%)

it all depends. Sometimes it may take me hundreds of records to make a beat, others it takes me one.
What Ive been doing of late, is to just start sampling whatever feels good off of the most recent ten to fifteen purchases, and try to make a few of those sounds fit together on the mpc. Its a good trick for blending radically different sounds. It gives my stuff a spontinaiety, or so my girlfriend has told me.

when I first started diggin, maybe 2 or 3 beats from 10 records.

now, 20 years later, I might get 2 or 3 beats per record.

This IS TRUE........................

and The Question IS TOO BROAD what Genre/Time Period and ALSO Different Albums Have More or Less Tracks Per Side.............
I Know Me I Could Find At Least 8 Chops etc. But I've Bought Albums and Found like 10 on Certain Pieces or 1 or 2 on Others .............

i try to get at the least one good thing off each record that i buy. So out of 10 I would say at least 10 then.
