cooo, i'll have to find that jont.

This older dude i used to work with was moving across country and he posted a list of all his things that he was selling. At the bottom of the list was "a bunch of old records" so i asked him about it. He said 1st come 1st served at his yard sale that weekend. I couldn't make it, so i told him what i liked and if any were left i'd take a look at them. He comes in to work on monday with about 30 records, hands them to me and said $10 for em all. Among them was the eddie harris, an og copy of Whats going on by marvin g., some billie holliday, aretha, a few other sick jazz albums that were more obscure and a few shytty rock albums. I figured $10 for the marvin and aretha was good enough. But.....i knew the jazz jonts were ill just by the cover art and date.

could use a deal like that about now i'm broke, broke.

Good stuff. I have like 7 or 8 of dude's albums. I was just scratching and cutting some of that shtt into one of our tracks recently.

"Plug Me In" is a good one. Funky. Got some famous loops on it.
The production has that late '60s roomy reverby sound to it.

His mid-70s albums are real cool too. Drier production. Real interesting textures - very sampleable. Not for loops as much as chops.
Funky, but slower and stinkier.
"Is It In", "Free Speech", "Bad Luck Is All I Have", "I Need Some Money"
The kind of albums that "jazz purists" hate on, but people with samplers love.
