Help with diggin Latin Soul,Jazz....

Yo I've got a good selection of soul and I'm looking to get some sick Latin records to start sampling from. I'm gonna attend a private sale and a record convention next week and was wondering if there are any specific artists, titles, labels, etc i should be looking for. The type of sounds im looing for is like some ill Drama, like some real alchemist type stuff. I know some of you got some answers for me.

Sorry b,i don't have any clue on Latin Soul/Jazz.I collect Flamenco right now and haven't got into that part of the music yet.But what i would suggest is maybe going to a record sight(even ebay)and look into Latin Soul.If you can,listen to snippets,write down names and then go from there.

sometimes stuff that looks real corny has really ill shyt on it.

look for some Los Angeles Negros,Pucho & His Latin Soul Brothers,Carlos Roberto,celia cruz, these are few i got some celia i'm tryin to find the first group but they are rare i've noticed, but this should start you off, go from these and read liners and see who they worked with to learn more. if you find doubles of the LAN i'll buy some off you .

how much does the brazilian government pay you to keep plugging the music from down there?

it's cool and all but i think the cuban music latin jazz is the best in the world you cant compare to the sounds of Septeto Habanero,orquestra típica, Don Azpiazu's , Desi Arnaz , Machito's Afro-Cubans ,Tito Puente ,Pérez Prado , these cats originated the sounds in the20's 30 40 and made it popular to the rest of africa in the 50's

these cats practically invented the afro cuban music if not they did invent it,

im sorry you feel that way, j/k, its all good, but if you experince music from brasil, you would understand

lets be honest Brazil did not develop the sound it has become famous for until they began to mix influences of AMERICAN jazz and soul. liseten to the best records made by mendes, jobim, wanderley, verocai, gil, donato--they made their best music using this style of latin/jazz/rock fusion. sort of the same thing happened with Fela, who went back to Africa and developed afrobeat after spending years playing in America with jazz musicians like Roy Ayers
