Talk and share knowledge on rare records, sources of new samples, vinyl, diggin, etc

I cannot keep all of my for sampling records as I don't have the room nor the desire. I keep em for a while then give them to salvation army or joy junction. (heads up ABQ producers) I know some people alawys keep a record because they may hear it different later. This is true but still I think samples are a dime a dozen. I can find something on any record to use so I dont hold on to many gems. I keep only around 20-50 records around at any one time. I like to keep my collection of sample vinyl thin and I keep the digging scene at the salvation army interesting. Some I keep because they are cool and real special to me for one reason or another (I love the one with the mexican guy dressed like the late 70's with a classical guitarra standing by a porsche.) 8)

Hmm.. I usually like to just have alot of vinyls, just to say i got them, but i mostly scratch on them course they are bad.

But with records i like, i just listen to. No sampling or nuttin'.

All of my records are for my listening pleasure. I would never trash any of them.

Now I do have a bunch of classical records that were included in a batch of records given to me. I keep telling myself I'm going to sample something, but I never do. Soon, those records will have to go.

You could send me (or others) a (periodic) list of records that you plan on giving away. You might make a few bucks off of some of the pieces.

To answer your question: No, I don't get rid of anything. When i first started digging (10 years ago) I used to buy some crap records, but over time I learned to be much more selective about what makes its way into my crates.

Plus, I only buy what I like (or think that I would like), so that helps keep the fat off.

The only records I get rid of are the ones I took a gamble on ($.50/$1... i'm a high roller) at the thrift store or whatever and I don't like. So yeah, I normally take the crap to the record store I dig at and sell them for chicken feed. But I got a section at home where I keep all those 'disliked', bad or trashed records seperate from the other stuff I own.
