murhpy's law strikes again...

i have to vent.

my mpc just died.

............and now every record i've bought has the craziest stuff to chop!!!!!!!!!!!




i've spent about $2 in the last two weeks at the used record store and came out with about ten or twelve records with the sickest stuff to chop on it!!!

usually buying the budget records is 50/50 chance for having good stuff on it. i'm ten for ten right now and i have no mpc now....

i swear, i'm about to start punching newborn babies in the throat if i don't get my mp back....

on the real, though, sorry to hear about your loss. what happened to your MPC? is it serviceable? how'd it go down?

anyway my mpc died from a short.
it turns out in the 1000 there is a long ass screw that sits
directly underneath the connector pins for pad 10.
so everyonce in awhile i would hit pad 10 and the whole thing would short.

i noticed that the pad connector was burnt there but never figured
out what was causing the short. i thought it was maybe something i did
trying to repair my dead pads. but sadly i can't take even the credit for this one. the screw would touch the connector and my mp would flip out.

(and i got pics of the burnt connector if people don't understand what i am talking about...)

by the time i figured this out and removed that one stupid screw, it was too late. my mp was fried. if i'm lucky the current flowing through the screw maybe just fried a resistor or something (which can be replaced). i'm having a repair guy look at it right now.

....and man, since starting this thread i went through 4 more records with the illest stuff on it. random records for a dime i found digging. and i can't do anything......

damn, that sounds like some real shady engineering.
look at the bright side, you got some nice digs and you'll be ripe with anticipation once you can get back into the workflow.

and not trying to burst your bubble but yeah i have had digg;s like that but they soon come to a slump so dont trip when you go out and cant find anything, just remeber you foud 10 records with dope stuff on it,

you need to buy your self another out board sampler like i got an sp202 which i use to sample stuff, not that my MPC went down but just to have cause i dont take mine out the studio.

yeah, the babies thing was just me joking around, trying to vent.

i dont have enough hate/lack of conscience/energy to get in a fistfight with some newborn babies.

and i stopped digging for a long ass time cause i have too many recods that i'll still havent gone through. so if i cant find anymore good stuff digging i wont be too heated cause i already have too much as it is.

...i'm just sad i dont have my mp.
and i have an sp-303 and software and what not, but its not the same...

i was just getting my workflow down with my mp and now it's gone.
just gotta be patient i guess...

stop crying. Rob some people and buy a new mpc as fast as you can.

Btw. babies are jerks sometimes, so dont worry about it.

Yo Cuz, to keep busy til your MP comes back, chop yur sh!t on the computer and Load Load Load when it comes back...That way you'll have 75% of the ground work done....If you use a computer at all in your work.

beatmonkey: i use a computer alot in my setup.
i'm gonna start trying to flip stuff using my sp-303 and my computer.
chop it up in the computer and load it on the 303.
the 303 effects are better anyway so maybe this will push me to do stuff in a way i never felt like trying before...


...and man,.... i talked to the repair guy and he said he thinks "a logic chip inside the mpc is fried." i dont know what that means cost wise, but i know it means something along the lines of i'm probalbly gonna have to send it out to VST in california to get it fixed....

forget it. i think i'm just gonna sell it as is, for someone that wants to have plenty of back up parts for their 1000 for cheap...who knows.

its lame regardless.
