Dub - the scientist, lee perry, mad professor, sly & robbie

roots - gladiators, heptones, culture, israel vibrations

please check Earnest Ranglin, please.......dude is sooo ill. He plays hollow body guitar, a lot of instrumentals. Some of the world music he does i could take or leave, but the reggae is bomb. Album: Below the Bassline, check it.

Also check out some Studio One compilations, they'll give you a lot of artists to check out.

oh, check Jackie Mitoo also.

Some great shyt coming out of the Virgin Islands right now, Midnight, Dezarae, Bamboo Station. The label for these cats is 'I Grade'.

Ijahman
Alpha Blonde
The Congos (or Don Carlos)
King Tubby

and for cool stuff a bit different Monty Alexander - he's a lounge piano player and does a full album of marley renditions played on piano

and on the Mad Professor tip check out No Protection - the massive attack dubs he did. They're dope.

for really weird stuff - more ska though - mixed with a little metal/punk....

hit up old school fishbone......
crazy good musicianship.....

you'll have to dig through the hardcore parts, but there are some real gems in there...

especially on angelo's baritone sax, and homeboy on bass... shit the whole band.
