Technics help

Sorry for posting in here but it kind of makes sense...

My 1210 is only coming out of one channel. I've only got one cartridge which makes troubleshooting harder so I'm unsure where the problem is.

All the little wires in the cartridge are wired up fine so does that mean the problem is very likely to be in the internal wiring?

When I look underneath where the phono cable goes in, it's screwed in very tightly so it doesn't seem to be a loose connection there...but is it likely to be further inside?

I know I'm being vague but any suggestions would help...

Are you using a phono preamp? That could be the problem.

I had a problem with my 1200. The right channel was lower than the left channel volume wise. It turned out my preamp was faulty.

Could be the contacts between the headshell and the tonearm, try cleaning these.

Also the connection of the cable to whereever you have it plugged should be checked.

if you figure out that it isnt the preamp then yea, check your phono wires. i had a similar problem with one of my 1200's and if the 1210's and 12's are alike the only way to see if the phono wires are still soldered properly is to split the thing apart. its easy, just remove all the screws from the bottom. the cable goes in and makes a bend or two around a metal plate, pay attention to that part cause its kinda sorta tricky gettin back together. my problem actually wasnt that though, it was one of the small wires that go up into tone arm and connect to the cartridge had busted up inside. it was over my head so i bit the bullet and paid for repair.

check your balance on your preamp , but thtere should be nothing to do with that ,

try to take the headshell off and reinstall it again, what most people do it lick the ends to make better contact but not recommended, try to check your connections try to checnge the rca's around and see if you have bad wiring that way, try not to mess withthe wiring inside if you dont know what your doin you'll get your self in to more trouble then,

check the stylus too see if it's not breaking make sure it is clean.

is this turntable being used as a stduio table of just to listen to in your home stereo set up?

had the same problem last week. I unhooked the stylus from the headshell then put it back together and it works fine now.
