Record collecting vs. buying records for samples

how many of yall collect records. Im talking about buyin wax just because you like the music, even if it has no "break" value or sample value vs. buying wax strickly for the purpose of sampling? Just curious. i started out buying records stricly for beats, didnt really give a shit about condition, bought alot of crap, and didnt take care of the records very well (joints all out of their covers all the place). Through looking for records to sample, i started realizes i liked the music on alot of the records more than alot of the hip hop shit that was coming out. Slowly i started picking up records just cause i liked them, not necisarily for samples. Whats dope is that for the last few years i just been picking up alot of good music, where as before i would just be picking whatever was cheap as long as it had something for me to sample, even if the rest was absolute doo doo and my sample library has become pretty crazy. Anyways i thought id reach out and see how many other collectros and beat diggers are this board. Peace

i used to buy records for listening. now i buy records for sampling, even though i will hear something ill once in a while and listen to it.

Thats me right there i dont no if are have youre realization. Most of the time are have quick run through .If here something that stands out then are play the whole track but other then that i probaby miss out on a lot good shit to sample

collector but everything i buy gets used in one way or another whether it be for djing or to sample, i dont really buy records just to sample anymore it a waste of money and you just collect junk.
i have records that have alot of breaks and samples but they are also good albums,
thats why i dont understand why so many ctas area against buy records that have been sampled theres other good music on the same album ,look for something else to sample other then what has already been use on there.

i collect for the music, the cover, the price is worth and the rareness.

if im buyin it, im samplin it, unless its utter garbage. but most of the time the song that you end up sampling is dope and you listen to it regularly

thats wrong
you should only use utter garbage to sample and leave the good tracks alone. its common sence that your sampled track is gonna be good if you sample of a nice record... hell why not use sample cds instead?

basically when I dig i'm looking for samples...but i'm also looking for good music at the sametime...like I am a big fan old rock and i'll just grap whatever is worth listening to. I'll never really buy an album for one song unless it's 50 cents. But I do have an ear that I can't ignore so i'll buy it to just listen. Collecting records just to have the record is not really my steez. But there's a ton of heads out there that appreciate every piece of wax they get because well...they support wax and eventually maybe other genres will use basically any obscure record...to each his treasure...eventually...huh?! Imagine that.

i started collecting vinyl before i sampled so i had a nice collection going into this whole thing. now i buy for both collecting and sampling. today was my first day at the record store, and i work for trade. i came home with $80 worth, 1/2 collectors, 1/2 sample.... i just love music.
