having bad luck diggin

i cant really find good samples, maybe cuz i buy im records at Goodwill
(for now, cuz i dont know many record stores)

but last records i got had hardly any good samples on them..

what do u guys look at, or how can u tell that a record has some shyt on it...

or do i just have to dig and take chance's...

I got some records if u interested in coppin some more. I lik those spanish records cause they be having some nice weird sounds to use for percussion.

I buy records to listen to the music first and foremost. Samples come second.

I used to just buy a bunch of records looking for samples but I have expanded my musical tastes and I know what I like. Once you know music and what you want your music to sound like you will know where to find those samples.

I'm not some guru on this shit like some others on the board. But as time goes by I have noticed that I buy a lot less bullshit records than I did.

im just buying records for new sounds, im still trying to find a style...

but most of the records i find dont really got shyt. and i dont want to buy atlantic or motown records cuz those are played out....

some im still looking for new shyt and diffrent types of records..

guess its all about know what your looking for.

man you need to switch up your spots. most time good will and shit be already dug out get up early on a sat and go to the yard sales where you get the primo first pick joints. I try to stay out of the small shops as they usually just carry the " most common records ever " that and some times estate auctions will be selling up lots of vinyl after people die and no one goes there waiting and looking for records , you can usually call or go down a day ahead to look around and see if theres anything good.

- i wouldnt buy anything that looks like its before the 1950's

- stay away from symphony records that are one composers name on it such as "Beehtoven's Greates Hits", your gonna keep running into the same song over and over.

- Stay away from what looks like cheesy pop music, such as popular rock albums, like an Ozzy Osbourne record.

- Look for unique covers and i would say 70% of the time you will have a good sample on there.

- If you see a picture of a young female model on the cover from the 1960's-1970's era this will usually be a good record, ive had a lot of luck with those.

YOU NEED TO LISTEN MORE,DONT JUST BUY TO SAMPLE OR THINK THAT THE RECORDS GOIN TO HAVE SAMPLES COME RIGHT OFF OF IT SAMPLING IS AN ARTFORM YOU NEED TO LISTEN FOR SAMPLES, PLAY YOUR RECORDS WHEN YOU ARE NOT IN THE STUDIO OR BEAT MAKING MODE, LISTEN WHILE YOU DO YOUR HOME WORK OR CHOIRS LISTEN TO WHATS BEING PLAYED THEN YOU WILL HEAR STUFF THAT YOU NEVER NOTICED BEFORE, THIS IS NOT A NORMAL FAZE OF NOT FINDING THINGS, YOU JUST HAVE TO LISTEN IS ALL,YOUR TRYING TO HARD TO FIND SOMETHING OR HAVE IT POP OUT AT YOU.
