thoughts on 45's

i love gettin records i've never heard of but what y'all think about 45s?

do you gamble and get random 45s? and how much would you pay for them? (regular common ones) today at this new place i went to charged a buck a piece for them. at my old spot they a quarter each.

I Always pick up 45s. Usually they're 50 cents each.
The thing about 45's is usually that was the single. So that was usually label putting their best foot forward. That's where you'll find the hooks, and the real catchy stuff. Also, you can often find regional stuff from other areas that guys in you're spot wont have. The only problem is that they've often been mistreated, and are scratched all to hell. But that can be cool.

I rarely pick up 45's. I don't know why actually. I like the big size LP's.

45's got charm too, no doubt about it. You get what u want in small format.

dunno...sometimes i pick up 45's sometimes not.
One of my main gripes though with 45's is the inferior sound quality on alot of them.
Maybe its just my ears ha, dunno..but it seems like it.
And also when your sampling from a 45 and than you wanna mix your samples up with ones from a normal record, pitch matching is a B*tch.

What'cha mean?

right now im using a sh*tty belt drive JVC turntable with a spinwheel kind of pitch control on the front panel...and than i have the 33/45 button.
Seems like whenever i sample something from a 45 and than switch the pitch back to 33...the samples from the 45 just dont sound right at all mixed with the ones from the normal sized 33's.

well they're not supposed to

from what i understand, the grooves on 45's are what give it that 45 sound. more abrasive and louder. i'd prolly use a 33 recordin over a 45 but that just be lil ol me
