I was talking to jacpot the other day he was tellin me 73 was the year I need for samples... Are there anyother years ya'll wanna throw out there?

for nice stuff... sampling or just listening music I stay between 1965-1975.... but you can find crazy samples on newer music for shure... but when I'm shopping by the year thats what I look for...

CMON' peezie WHATS WRONG WITH THAT you just have to know your music ,
most of my best records range from75-79got others too but theres not a hole lot of them my avarage range is 75-79 tho

and i'm talkin jazz,soul,funk,R&B,rock&roll and more...


there's no certain yr just have to know what your listening to is all
know your music and your artist's label is a factor also.

what i have noticed is that most jazz, early labels are really funky and soulful. but them again it depends on what your after
chalie Montgomery,les montgomery,george duke,and others like that they were really funky in the ealie yrs.

E, i think you misunderstood me. because what youre saying is true. im not against researching before you go dig, but going after records based solely on the year,(genre, artist, label, etc.. arent even considered?) is ridiculous. and not even based on your experience? oh yeah, so and so told me its good, so it better be good. early 70s era might have its specific sound suitable for hiphop, but doesnt mean theres nothing else. i only say this, because everytime i narrow my choices down like that, i always either miss out on some other sh it i disregarded or things become stagnant after awhile. im done with going after certain established sounds that other artists already claimed their own. influence is one thing, but dont let it stop you from doing what you really wanna do.

73 is def a good year, lots of experimentation going on with new instruments and techniques in all genrers.

69-79 for me.

Anyone that digs enough will end up with a favorite year... There are patterns in everything, you just need to look for them..
