I got a bunch of TRASH that I just keep forgetting to throw away. But that's like 3% of my collection with absolutely NOTHING listenable/sampleable on it that won't be missed. I have been scooping up people's collections at work and it's the people who are older who say "oh I got some of those old records, please take them because I'm just gonna throw them out" that have some sweet sampleable vinyl.

On the other hand the younger people have been giving me heavy synth 80's she-it or some Madonna records and I'm like "you could've threw this away."

I got rid of about 10'000 records from my collection years back in exchange for a car... before they went I catologued every sample and edit onto minidisc.

I still have that box of minidiscs

whatever you find on a record store it to knowledge as it may be the track winner one day

i cant even trash a stupidly scratched, sleeveless copy of grease is the word
even if its wack, it's still wax - i just love the smell :P

i get credit for mine and trade them in for records i want/need. one time i got like 600 45s for .06 each and then took about 300 that i didn't want to this spot and they gave me .50 credit for each of them. so i ended up making .44 each on a bunch of records i didn't want. i'm a hussler baby.

my local record store gives me about a 100 FREE records a week depending on when I stop through. At first they would give me like 80 christmas albums and there would be about 5 good records, so I would walk over to the thrift store 50 feet a way and just drop off the crap.....

but then the manager started to handpick the free joints and the retard would give me mint copies of bob james, grover washington jr, tons of ill stuff.

I just picked up a ton of good looking classical, plus I got to rush the college radio station last night so needless to say I probably have about 400 records I havent even listened to yet!!!!

oh yeah.....copping all those free joints really opened up my view of genres that are good for sampling...normally I would run for the most exotic jazz fusion joint I could find....but now.......
