Lately i've been getting all frustrated with digging. Not that i don't kno what to look for but all i find all the time is shit. I like to take my time with this ish and just chill but it always seems to be a f*cking race with the
old record collector magazine having nerds fighting over shit. Feel like i'm fighting for ritz crackers (i am in Manchester tho, which people say is a v good place 4 vinyl in the UK so i'm a bit lucky lol).

i've had it with the UK at the moment (dunno if this is envy lol) but you US cats i feel are very very lucky. .

I mean i just can't be bothered with looking in charity shops and UK stores with high prices anymore. Whats the US digging scene like? I've never been to the US B4. If i was to come over to the US what places (as in cities, etc) would you recommend me go to for a dig? (i kno New York's the obvious but other places?)

There are a few places that you could go in Los Angeles, California. Amoeba is one place that you’d HAVE to go if you came here or they have two in the San Francisco, California area.

There are tons of little spots you could go. If you do a forum search you can find some the previous spots listed in California.

If you go to the US they take your fingerprints and all sorts of degrading stuff so I can't go there ....but yeah europe is not as nice to dig if your into "black" music......

I've been diggin all over the UK naturally and i've also been lucky enough to go to New York, Philly, California & Florida as well as Germany, all these places outside of the UK have been great experiances especially the time spent on NY travelling from one place to another for 3 days, I especially like the salvation army charity shops (if thats their correct name) out there as a couple were almost like record stores in their own right, i've brought back plenty from all these places without overspending. But at the end of the day I always come back to my home country and spend many a time doing the rounds and still picking up many gems

For you being in Manchester it may just be a case of you're currently just seeing the same records all the time and need a quick change in scenary, something we could all do with at times.

Next stop for me is Japan at the end of this year/start 2008 for a week

I also disagree.... Europe has plenty to offer and is on a par with anywhere else, you just never stop diggin!!!

Yo I just wanted to say that I love stores with hours like this. The local vinyl only shop in my city is open thurs-sun. It's great. It's like they have a dedicated fanbase, so they don't have to be open all the time for people to wander in off the street. Good stuff. I'm up in Maine, but if I'm ever in the bay area I'm gonna check your shop out.

I'm from England, and I can tell you that here in Detroit, Wax is the cheapest I have ever seen in my entire life. I've tried diggin' in every city I've visited, amd nothing compares to what I see here. People give away wax. It's not uncommon to see stax of records outside a store just waiting for someone to take. 25 cents on up. I usually don't pay more than $1. The most I've spent is $10 for a Jan ackermann record that I wanted for listening pleasure (was searching for YEARS). It's also not uncommon to see Asians visiting for the sole reason to buy wax just to take back, and I'm not talking about a $50 stack. They come with serious money and clean house. Not only the stores, but people here have tons of records that they simply don't want. Talk to some people and you may get a "schyt, you can just take that crap!" I've been collection 8 tracks lately, and if I can figure out how to post a picture, I'll show some of the stuff I got for free. I'm actually to the point where I'm picky about what I want to take. I have no more room for it and don't want triples and quadruples of the same records in my collection (especially if it's wack)
Anyways, if your ever in Detroit, holla at me. For $30 I can get you more than a cratefull of dope wax.. not the 25 cent classical, country, and 50's swing music, but the good stuff you'd pay top dollar for somewhere else.
