Not a lot Vinyl to be found in Ontario

Living in the greater toronto area, there's not a lot of good spots to be found.

It's either that, or i'm not looking hard enough.

Maybe the places that do have records for sale, aren't the ones advertising at the front of their store, etc...

yea man theres sweet spots everywhere!! I don't care where you are just some places are harder to find or just not as well known....

although I heard canada in general is ruff...I got a boy that lives by casino niagra etc and he normally drives to Ohio, PA, Philly and when he's sick of the long drives he pays top dollar to have vinyl shipped from the states....although a bit of a pain in the ass, I guess it all breaks down to how hungry you are for wax....if you want it bad enough its out there family....

2nd hand stores are everywhere. Value Village, Salvation Army, Goodwill.

Learn how to find the diamonds in the rough. There is a lot more out there than you think.

Go to Flea Markets/Swap Meets, and if you got a car look through classifieds and classified only publications like Bargain Finder for people getting rid of all their joints for cheap. I haven't done this last method myself yet. I will be eventually. I just don't like to plan my record buying. I usually just buy records spontaneously out of the blue and I like it like that.

Just don't think you have to go and look for typical "digger records," or have to pay top dollar to get some stuff. I found some of the dopest sounds on some of the wackest cheapest records.

BTW if you live in Canada I'm sure you've seen CBC and know who Anne Murray is....even she has a hot break on one of her albums, so don't sleep.

If your in the area try out Orange Monkey in Waterloo (about 50 minutes from Toronto) expensive sometimes but it's still a gold mine.....

I guess I'm the only one here who agrees with you. Generally don't find a lot of soul/funk type of stuff here, and from talking to a lot of dealers, I really don't get the impression those styles were as huge here in the 60s/70s as in some of the American cities. I definitely know that a few dealers here are importing the records they sell from the states, and you can tell from the prices (yeah, I'm thinking of one Queen west spot in particular). There's a spot I used to go in Scarborough for 45s- I don't have time to go out there anymore, but it should still be there. Its called Henry's, dude is an older reggae dj, but has lots of soul 45s. Other than that, can't help you out much. Try looking for rock records, since that was what was big here.

yeah i kind of agree. theres **** all around here for good finds. now i'm sure i could be looking harder but for **** sakes. i was in nyc recently and i found like 3 spots for digging within 5 minutes of being there!!!! basically compared to the US Canada has **** all. I've been everywhere and never can find gems so i basically just buy any record i can get and try to at least make something out of it. also, try hamilton theres a couple record shops there.
