HELP! WHITELABEL HELP!

ok i just purchased a numark ttx, has a curved tonearm,and a shurewhitelabel cartridge,

I also have cables running from the table to a small phono preamp, then into my mixer, but the sound is horrid,

I've been messing with this thing all day yesterday, what do I do? any ideas of something im doing wrong? (i.e. leveling of tonearm, cartridge adjustment?")

have you checked that you're using the phono out instead of line out (there is a switch too) if your running the TTX into a pre-amp?

yeah i have it switched to phono, i think it might be my stylus, it's just not picking up the record right.

is there a ground wire coming from the turntable? is the turntable grounded? and the pre amp? can u skip that and just go to the mixer? same results?
only other thing i could think of is the tone-arm adjustment. properly weighted? level?
otherwise i'd be stumped too.

TTX shouldn't need to be grounded. I've heard this in the past but here is a source:

Line as well as phono outs with no ground necessary made the TTX1 friendlier with various mixer/sampler/keyboard setups, which can get pretty complex when I’m at the helm.

I'd just make sure your stylus connections are all on as secure as possible, push them all the way on. If that doesn't fix anything, I'd advise you get another stylus to test if the stylus or if the table is busted.

try to set the wieght on it again.

check your volume levels/gains, not more then 7 max volume

horrid what are you hearing? can you explain the sound, is it distorted,not enough volume,

what mixer are you using? you may be in the wrong input on your mixer
numarks have a ceramic and magnetic plug ins sometimes. you have to make sure your in the right one.
