The ELECTRIC PRUNES suck!!

i recently bought the Underground LP from the electric prunes and i was highly disappointed! i was expecting some david axelrod type shit & i got some bullshit! anyways, could someone please direct me to some funky 70's psych shit that's along the lines of RARE EARTH, IRON BUTTERFLY, STEVE MILLER BAND please? thanks.

You need to get "Release Of An Oath"

You mean you couldn't get anything off of "The Great Banana Hoax?"
"I Had Too Much To Dream (Last Night)" and "Get Me to The World on Time" are great songs, but maybe not so great for sampling, and they're not on the record you picked up anyway. The Electric Prunes definitely don't sound like Axelrod.
Try a Dennis Coffey record.
Stepphenwolf, Vanilla Fudge, or The Chamber Brothers might also be good for what you're looking for.
None of those groups sound like Axelrod either, but they most definitely are late '60s/early '70s funky psych.

Axelrod didn't have anything to do with that album. You want Release of an Oath and Mass in F minor. THose albums def sound like Axelrod.

from what i remember there are 2 bands called Electric Prunes or something and that after Axelrod the label just basicly up and ran with the name and put out some other schit... something like that anyway...

Yeah the 'Mass in F minor' album was composed by Axelrod, however the material was too complex for the band members of the Electric Prunes to recreate, so Axelrod brought in session musicians to complete his artistic vision.

The name of that album just dawned on me it's 'mass': a catholic church service in F minor, not what I had always thought (and is much cooler imo) 'mass': a property of a body to have weight in a gravitational field in F minor.

Release of an Oath is what you want, as someone said above, the better of the two Axelrod E.P. albums imo, although it's really short, probably like 25 mins.
