Choir Samples

hey guys...i need a choir sample library.

i had a question though...aren't sample CDs just cds with a bunch of sound files on them?

cuz i was looking at other things like EW's Symphonic Choirs,
and i'm confused.

do you have to install actual programs to see/use the sound files?
do sample libraries like that have to be run by other programs?

i just wanna have sound files that i could do whatever i want with...ya know?
wavs, aiffs, whatever.

ummm you are in cratediggers forum so ill say...sample some records w/ vocals. sh!t should NOT be hard to find.

To answer your question about formats:
Most sound libraries come in a number of formats, some are specifically formatted in proprietary softsampler formats so that you can load the whole library and it'll be automatically arranged by scale, type, instrument, etc... as long as you make sure it says "Includes audio files" or "Inlcudes .wav files" or something along those lines you'll be straight.

...but seriously though, 99.9% of those sample libraries sound like ass. The sound you're going to get from most of them (I can imagine especially choir libraries) is like what you hear in new age or smooth jazz sh*t they play at the dentist's office. I'd dig and sample if I were you... it's a lot more work, but when you get it it's that much better.

but what is it called if u have ONE sample and need to make more notes out of it?

What MPC you have?

You could make a chromatic program out of it, but it doesnt sound that good though..

Depends what kind of library he speakin about.. coz if he speakin library records theres a big diff compared to these new "sound library" cd things

I got a cool choir sample from a Bach song. Its like an old fellers choir.

Yes, Library Records can be dope, but sample libraries and library records are two different things. I was talking about sample libraries as I was saying "sound libraries" not "library records".
Let's not go confusing the man!

About the second question: It's called pitch stretching and I would only strech a sample 3 semi-tones either direction if you are aiming for a realistic sound, any more that that either up or down and it gets real recognizable as a pitch stretched sample.
