Sound Quality: Original Pressing vs. Reissue

P.e.a.c.e. y'all,

What are the discernable differences in sound quality between vinyls that are original pressings vs. reissues?

Can reissues sound better with simple EQ'ing, or do they require more extensive tweaking (outboard gear) to sound more like an O.G.?

Is it just me or do originals pack a little more of a punch on the low end?

my experience is weaker sound on the reissues. also got ditstortion on a record, dont know if the o.g. got it but i wouldnt think so. but i get reissues, no problem

Just sold my reissue of black moons - entah da stage. I just couldn't feel the dope tracks cause of the shytty soundquality.
Or maybe its cause there is too many songs pressed too tight on one 12" record?

I thought to get the dope single "12's of the album, its really better sound quality on singles...

No difference. It's not about the sound quality. A collector will want the original at any cost, a consumer that simply wants to hear the lrecord will spend the $9.99.
I like to by originals mainly because hip-hop music is still cheap. Makes no sense to pay $10 for a reissue when you can get the original used for a few bux, but when it comes to some rare soul record that you've never seen, I'll buy a reissue, but I'll keep my eyes open for an original while I'm diggin. I'm trying to find the self titled "sylvers" which I passed up for $30, and I've NEVER seen it again.

that sylvers is pretty rare. ive seen it in some pricey shops for over $100. its on ebay in a seller store for $99 right now..if the auctions playout i think it usually goes for less than that, maybe $50-80.. i found sylvers II for a buck or two so dont give up they are out there.. i just hope i find it first..

for clarity, i checked the values people are paying on these and sylvers s/t is about a $50 record (online price anyhow) and the sylvers II is around a $70 lp.

that how you tell a reissue, thats whats the difference is a reissue sounds tinnny(tin) and the Og sounds fuller .

I don't know what kinda systems y'all playing with but re-issue or not, everything I've played through my speakers bumps. As I've stated many a time, I've done side by side testings on originals vs re-issues and see slight to no diffefernce between them. People pay exuberant amounts for original pressings for bragging rights and nothing more. I only pay top dollar prices when there is no re-issue available. I've either had the originals from back in the day, or paid the same price as a re-issue for an original. Mind you, I have tons of records and the only re-issues I have are like two or three James Brown records.

Now bootleg records and complilations (Dusty Fingers, UBB, Diggin', etc) is something totally different. I've done side by side testing of those to the originals and found everthing from sound quality, to pitch being different from the originals. If your using them for sampling, it really shouldn't make a difference.

And as far as the Enta Da Stage LP that LP was originally pressed as a single LP with garbage sound quality. So I would imagine if someone re-issued/repressed it, that would be the first thing to try to improve....the sound quality.
