the only turntable i have is the numark pt-01, due to space issues (live in asia)... been a solid piece of hardware for me the entire time, no complaints whatsoever... can take it digging with me and use it at home, hooked up the mpc... i tend to just switch the needles... one for digs, one for the actual work. great little unit, you won't be disappointed.

yo i use the same table for mobile digging. How do you switch the needles on that joint?

yea i am wondering the same thing , where do you get a replacement needle for it>?

dude... the sh!t is a bit of a pain to get off... once you see what the replacement looks like, taking it off makes more sense. i bought it on ebay for like 10-20 bucks, don't remember... it was cheap though. google it.

pt01 is a workhorse
I'm using it now because my wife broke my other turntable and I love it if you're taling about just plain sampling and playback

i've posted this before, but here goes...

i've had the Numark PT-01 for a while now and would recommend it as a portable unit, but not really a turntable for sampling from or encoding your LPs to digital format from. i'll give you the pros & cons on it...

PROs:
-it plays 33/45/78 speeds (not many portables will play 78s. this is my only means of hearing 78s actually)
-it can run on batteries as well as the included AC adapter
-it has both 1/8 and 1/4 headphone jacks as well as RCA outputs.
-it has basic pitch shift, tone, and volume knobs
-it is 12x12 and therefore fits in a crate

CONs:
-like all portables, it has a rather cheap cartridge... almost any LP that isn't brand new plays with a loud static sound... (which you won't hear if you play the same LP on better turntables)
-like a boombox, it's heavy once it has batteries in it
-the built-in speaker is small... but i think the amount of outputs it has make up for that
-it has a lot of plastic parts... the small plastic hinge that holds the tonearm in place breaks off easily... it took 2 years, but it did finally happen to me.

ps: there are no rechargeable turntables that i know of... they do still sell rechargeable batteries though, which is the same thing.

ps part2: most these issues also apply to the Vestax portable... i've heard that one has an even quieter speaker....

goooood lookin crossings :)

that really put things in perspective for me.

i don't see this being a main sampler for me..just something to make listening easier when i'm digging around town..probably gonna invest in a numark when i get my money up..
