Whats the max you'll pay for on vinyls???

I've paid $20 a couple of times, but my last 3-5 beats have come off of dollar records and I've found a shop that has thousands of dollar records with some obscure and cool ones, so I think my new max is going to be about $8 with most of the records I'm getting coming in between $1 and $3. Why spend big money on vinyl when there is so much cheap stuff left to be dug through? If I really want something, there's always the internet - I'm too poor to pay for just the luxury of having something on vinyl.

i'm starting to get the feeling to spend a good amount of money, $30-$90, for records i really want, but it's not shit for sampling, its more for dj'ing, like nu-jazz stuff from europe or it's stuff just to listen to, jazz standards or funk/soul based midtempo classics or limited pressed 7" records from producers here in the states, but it's always stuff that i've heard on cd or downloaded and then bought because it's so good and i need the record.

you can "keep it real" or be like your favorite producer and do that whole "i dont spend more than five dollars on a record," but if you dj and/or if records actually mean something to you and you're not just looking for records because you think you have to, then you'll know that there is really no "max," there's just prices out there that dont fit what a record should be worth based upon rarity and scarcity

I usually have to drop between 10-12 bucks for the new hiphop joints at my record store but if i buy older music i try to stay from 1 dollar to 20 bucks if i find a must have. I love vinyl but i dont have to have a first edition or anything either. In a nutshell i wouldnt spend over 30 bucks for something i really wanted.

Thats not it, I'm just tired of
A) buying a record for $15-$20 and finding it in a dollar bin a month later, and
B)shops not even giving a third of a record's value in trade or cash when selling back

I'm too poor for that, when I get money it'll probably go towards gear too. You can never find good gear for a dollar, so as long as I can find good records for a buck, that's what I'll do.

I'm too poor for that, when I get money it'll probably go towards gear too. You can never find good gear for a dollar, so as long as I can find good records for a buck, that's what I'll do.

thank Ebay for that.... plus you don't see what goes into restoring the record you just sold back.

the condition of the cover and the vinyl itself is a big part of get more money for your resell-able vinyl.
we give 5cents to 75 per record what you buy it for a dollar in the bins and you want more money back it don't work like that , they have to resell it and most of the time it will be less then what it's worth or put back in the dollar bin.....i deal with this all the time people coming and looking at our records and trying to get what it's worth in our store, but they don't see that we clean it with a VPI machine and restoration cleaner that helps perverse the record.

nubies to this culture dont understand how LUCKY you have it. vinyl is so cheap these days, back in the days there was hardly any shps that sold used vinyl...USED vinyl is sold everywhere these days thrift stores music shops ,record stores garage sales ....

No man, I understand that. I'm just saying If I buy a record from a shop one week, and resell it to the same shop the next week (to a different employee who wouldn't know that I bought it, or to the same one) it would still be cleaned their way (if they even use the machine that you use, they probably don't even use one) and in a condition they would call VG+ or whatever, and they give me a dollar, saying they would only sell it for $5 or so, when I just payed 10 or 15 for it. I don't expect to sell my $1 finds for very much (although I have once or twice).

not over $150. yet.

thats where your experience pays off plus dealing with shops that dont know jack about records but think they will get over...thats why it's called diggin you need to bounce around and digg in different spots ....not that i have to any more these days ...

Not too many record stores around that'll do this, but one local spot allows you to return anything you buy used for a full refund within 5 days, no questions asked. I don't take advantage (I'm def not going in there and returning $1 records), but it's cool that if you get something that absolutly sucks, they'll take it back.
They give decent trade credit too.

I paid $60 something for this album last year. So far it's the most I paid for vinyl.

ive been spending too much recently, keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming pics of my recent hauls..mail/net, thrifts, shops, and conventions ive been a bit busy..been really going through alot of the spots locally and now ive been e-grippin wax more heavily.

recently ive been averaging about $30 a piece...
