Best Way to move Records ???

Sup, I've gotta move a couple hundred records 1500 miles of so (going in a truck) to be stored for a couple months before I get to them again.

1 Does it matter if they are layed on top of each other instead of standing up ? Especially for a couple of months.

2 whats the best way to pack them ?



I've got a few crates similar this but the records stick out the top a wee bit. I can lie them down flat inside thou but don't know how well they'll keep.

dont stack them like pancakes cuz

When I shipped records from LA to my home in Europe, I packed them tightly in one of those cartboard boxes I got at Amoeba...

I'd pack them up like that and make sure they're packed real tight so chances of warping are as low as possible...

Ben yo , check it out DON'T stack them flat they will warp you'll get a dish warp. remeber how you took them in the box i gave you,try to find boxes like that ,moving boxes if you can get them with flaps so you can close the top so no dust get's in them ,pack them that way it's your best bet especially if your goin to store them for a while,

if your moving them in a truck keep them away fro the sides put them in the middle , and pack around them,

those crates are good only if your goin to move from place to place and use them right away.

oh yeah turn the inner sleeve side ways too so the record dont fall out or if dust get's to them they wont get on the vinyl.thats how you should store them all the time.

Sup ede thanks for the advice, I'm gonna try and find some proper box's to stand them up in with latches on them if possible.

I'm going to Seattle in June to vist my folks so I'll probably try catch the Amtrak down to San Fran for a day and come say hi and have a dig.

When I moved about 4 months ago I got some good sized boxes at Budget Moving. I think that's what it's called. They rent trucks and having moving boxes. I believe it's the medium size ones, but you can fit quite a bit in there and stack them vertically. There's also room to put a few rows on the side as well to pack them full but not mess them up. You may want to check there.
