resource for environmental sounds, movie effect

Hello,,
is there a resource online where I can get environmental sounds and maybe a librarie that is used for creating sounds in movies, like slamming doors, birds trains... you know what I mean,
I did some search but I only reach scam sites or they charge you for everything.

while reading the jjos manual I found this link http://freesound.iua.upf.edu.
I copied some onto my CF card, but the mpc didnt play them.

File info says:

Uncompressed 8-bit PCM audio
Mono
44100 Hz

seems these dont work out of the box, sad.

They gots to be 16 bit. Search google for good converter. Audacity is good. ITunes too (believe it or not).

the world is full of samples ....get yourself a field recorder and open and close the doors yourself and sample it , you'll be amazed on how you can flip stuff the sound that comes from the back of your TV is all i got to say.

thinking about that for some time, what kind of recorder would be good?
Can i use one of these mini-disc recorders?
I tried the mic from my PC Headset, didnt work for me.

WORD... thats what i use with a nice condenser mic i got a 360 field mic also that i have mis placed and i'm looking for again but it sounds realy great.

plus i have a micro tape recorder that i rigged too , so i can plug it in to my mixer so i can get the sound louder out my speakers.

(has a high z input). Has two stereo condenser mics built in as well. Saves on sd cards.

micro tapes you have to keep an eye out for them at thrifts you can get them for cheap, i think radioshack still sells tapes.

i got one with two speeds it's real dope.

but my MD is is the sh!t i havent used it that much anymore cause it cost me , the first one i had was put through hell and back , dont want to fuc this one up ,

I hear you e.d.e, I rolled with my md recorder for years. Til it broke...
And the zoom does look like a taser...

That Zoom looks dope as ****, would've never guessed it'd only be $200. Looks like it would be insane for skits and 'on the block' freestyles
