Mine thoughts about MPC4000.

I concur again the 4k is a beast. Get a midi controller keyboard or control surface as a nice addition to using the 4k.

I find it easy to make beats on an MPC, track into PT or Ableton and arrange full songs from there....Each has it's strengths and weaknesses. Could I just use Ableton, problably but I like the sound and way you create on the MPC..

I agree, the 4K is a beast. Learn it as much as you can. The Aksys OS works great in my setup. The Z sampler is surely the best that Akai has made. I would say keep the 4000, and if you just want a 3000, get one later. I know there is a certain amount of hype built up about some MPC's. It's not really hype, more like a classic. Like a classic Corvette. The 3000 has got it's own sound & feel. I always wanted the 3000 growing up. Now, I got both. You'll get one, too. Keep the 4K.

exactly, that's definitely the way to do it man. I won't get rid of my 4k man, I just can't do it. No matter what I'm working with in the future, that baby will remain with me.

I know one thing.....ya have to half way read the manuel backwards to understand how this beastt works!!

the manual is not the best, that's true...but a lil work and you can find your way around, if you really get stuck this is the place to be.

I believe the manual was cool. I downloaded the 4000, but there a users manual that made everything clearer. Also, I feel that their was an intimidation factor that we all had, if you ever used an MPC. I came from a 2000xl and the screens didn't look the same, but everything that was in the 2000xl was in the 4000.

My only worry is that if and when Mac OS gets up to version 11. Will my Aksys still be compatible and work properly. Akai was Nutts to stop the support on the 4000. But, what do expect from people who makes DJ equipment. (NO DISRESPECT TO DJ'S AND THE ARTFORM.) Nemark ain't no Technics!

Yeah I hear ya...

The 4k was my first mpc, so I didn't have to make the switch. However, after using it, I'm pretty much able to make my way around my friends mpcs, I played with a 1k and it was easy to get going but I quickly saw the limitations for what I do and the workflow I have on the 4k.

are you saying the mpc 4000 has limitations or are you saying the 1000 has limitations?

1k is totally limited after learning on a 4k, stuff I was so used to doing I just couldn't lol
