Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

What's Up.

I need to sync my MPC 4000 to Cubase LE 4. My MPC is connected to my PC via a MIDI to USB cable (Yamaha USB IN 0-1). The cable is connected to Midi In port I and Midi Out port A.

In cubase I have gone to Transport> Project Synchronization Setup. Within this screen I have selected: Timecode Source (MIDI Timecode) , MIDI Timecode Source (Yamaha USB IN 0-1), MIDI Timecode Destination (Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth), MIDI Clock Destination (Nothing has been selected in this box).

After setting this upb I select the Sync option at the bottom of my Cubase Transport Bar.

To the left of my MIDI track (where you'd find the EQ panel for an audio track) I have selected the Yamaha USB IN 0-1 as my input and the Microsoft Wavetable SW Synth as my output.

On the MPC I have changed the track TYPE from DRUM to Instrument (I cannot select MIDI here) -I'm not sure if this was needed. Should I be doing something within the MIDI set up screen accessed by pressing the MIDI button in the MPC control panel. Should I be adjusting the outs on the main screen?

Given I'm using an MPC 4k with Cubase LE 4 I've been able to find very little help on the web.

Can anyone shine some light?

Thank you.
