16 level tuning

Just been reading manual for mpc4k as part of my research into this beast.

The manual says you can use the 16 level key in order to assign the sound of a specific pad to all 16 pads, allowing you to play the sound using 16 gradiations of velocity.

However, on the mpc2k you can use the 16 level key to have a specific sound play at different NOTE VARIATIONS for tuning, filter, decay and attack. I use this quite a lot to make riffs using the tuning note variation.

Can you still do this on the mpc4k or is it no longer a feature?

you can do both on the 4000 actually

you can choose whether the 16 pads play different velocity or different tones... (when you push the 16 levels button, a windows opens that lets you choose whether you want velocity or tones to be changed...)

Yes as misterv says it does it just like the 2k. The reason that its not in the manual is that it wasnt a planned feature but AKAI had to implement it because so many users needed it. Its been around since OS 1.50.
