stripes on my 4000 display

AMIC was the distributor, sales, service center, tech support for the US. I don't know for sure but, I heard that the owner of AMIC was a part owner of Akai Professional. Akai Professional (APMI) is the company in Japan that designs and makes the MPC's, DPS's, Z samplers and so on.

Happened to my 2000. If you keep the screen on too long it happens. I think its like the screen on your computer that if you keep it on too long without a screen saver, it gets the lines.

That's my theory, because I bought the 2000 as a floor model, which was on ALL day for many months.

I also have a problem with the buttons not working, especially to scroll the cursor around the screen. Can that be fixed as well. I want to sell my old mpc2000 and I have a effects chip as well.

That was the case with my MPC4000. If the MPC is no longer under warranty then you can easily open and fix it.

btw - this means that normally MPC4000s have a professional fixed LCD cable inside?

But the worst that I found in my MPC4000 was that it had a Sync defect. It neither sent MTC nor SMPTE and since last week the right row of the rubber pads from top to bottom do not function anymore.

Hopefully the problems can be fixed. Very strange and for someone who had every MPC except the MPC60 II, this is a new experience I easily could have lived without.

yes, that can be fixed. if the only problem is the cursor buttuns are not working properly, that part might need to be replaced. You might be able to fix it and then sell it for a nice profit.

So whats the verdict on this? Is it because of a loose wire, or is it because the screen is left on too long??

Also, I'm getting a weird static noise when I midi link my mpc4000 to my RM1x, especially when I make the mpc4000 the master. It happens really badly when I do real-time edits to my sounds on the RM1x during playback. Anyone experience this?

Well, it could be a loose wire. Though I doubt that. The all LCD screens can develop problems. Just try opening the unit up. Inside there is a white ribbon cable make sure that it is securly in place. If that dosen't fix the problem you will need a new LCD. What exactly causes the line to develop? I don't know.
