MIDI LCD glitch

My 4000's lcd has been flickering for awhile now. the screen will just go blank then blink back on. I've tried all the updates and installments and nothing has really helped but the sampler and pads worked fine whether the lcd flickered or not. But recently i decided use the midi on the 4000 and found that when the lcd flickered the midi info stops.

has anyone else encountered this problem? Any suggestions?

I had a similar issue with mine when I first got it shipped. For me the screen would go out all the way at random. It turned out that one of the cables inside was just loose. I believe it was a cable from the power board to one of the main boards, so it was like the screen wasn't getting enough juice some of the time. Might want to try double checking all your connections and reseat everything.

My MPC4000 is acting just like Magnus's did, including the thing that MIDI transmit
stops when the screen goes down.
I've tried to PM Magnus but he has not been around since 2008..

Do anybody here recognize this problem? And maybe have some advice?
I have pulled out and reseated all the cables. Still goes bananas.
When booting from cold it works for like one hour and then flickers and goes out.
If I then reboot it only functions for some minutes.

Try opening her up and disconnecting the power lead for the backlight.

It should be the White and Pink cables connection.

Then boot up and test to see if you can transmit DATA

I'm thinking you either have a bad internal connection somewhere as discussed in the previous posts,

Maybe this is shorting somehow and causing the MIDI thing?
If it's not some type of power issue to the main board or others, that's about the only thing I could think of.

Seems odd that the screen and MIDI would be related.... just sounds like a power/voltage issue trailing through to multiple components.

Shorts or bad connections, or bad components such as resistors, capacitors, transformers, etc could cause stuff like this.
