Tests before buying a 4000? Anyone ever got a lemon mpc 4k

I'm going to buy a used white 4000

aside from making some seq's and setiing up a lil song anything else I should look out for?

^^^ Good choice rok! But I wish I could give you some pointers on how to avoid purchasing a bad 4k. Of course the way I look at it is...if the unit itself looks like its been through a war zone or even a few nicks here and there, leave it alone.

I think with most units now you have to be more concerned about the displays having lines and not working (which can be purchased from somewhere like vst service if need be).

Other than that, I hope you find one in pristine condition.

If that's really a concern then you have to buy it from a dealer.
May cost a little more but you get a return policy and checkout period.

The white 4k's are older so they may have been through more or changed hands a couple of times.

Don't buy Blue 4000!!!! Bought one new from zzounds two years ago and it worked fine for two months. After that I had many problems with a fatal error msg... Then I got lucky, I found a white 4000 that had never been used with adat and world clock for $1200.. its almost two years now and never had a single problem...

not all blue mpc4000's are affected with the fatal error message. but definately there is a batch out there.

my white 4k is affected by the weather.i have to put it in front of the heater for it to boot up properly in the morning.im on os 1.6o because it wont boot in later versions!!!!!!installed the outputboard last night and booted fine first time and then dosent want to boot after that.!!!!!installed the digital no problem.but apart from that its great.would not tour live with it tho.great machine ....
