Will there ever be new O/S for the 4k will they pick up where they left off? or is this a 'James Dean" of the drum machine world?!< what an amazing sounding piece of kit, I have had the MPC-60, 60 MK 2, 2000, 2000XL, 3000, AND THIS TOPS EM ALL!!, I mean it is the beast of Akai, but sadly possibly lost treasure?!

Ummm, I doubt it. Unless as I understand it, who ever has the source code ain't letting it go. But TBH, this is one of the great mysteries surrounding the 4k, whether or not if there will ever be some sort of os update. Be it in house, or through a third party vendor.

That's anybody's guess at the moment.

I mean there has to be, why put sooooo much effort into what I consider the ultimate Akai MPC, so much thought has gone into the design strength of it I cant see why it's a lost cause, perhaps Mr Linn may show up and proceed with the legend!!!

It's an alright machine.
Could have been better but also could have been worse.
The could have stopped the OS prior to 1.71 so be thankful it made it as far as it did before the company failed.

The only real hope is that someone will hack and expand AkSys to allow more through that channel.

Thanks dude. :) It's a project where I did a little contribution with the help of a friend who's playing the bass and guitar parts.

Os development for the 4k is dead!!!!! It was buried when the 5k was born. Say your graces and move on. The spirit of the 4k lies within you the user.
