Which OS do you use on your 4000?

I'm looking into getting a 4000. It's the only MPC I haven't owned/used. I like the sound of it and a lot of the features it has.

Which OS is the most stable for it? I've heard a lot of people say they had beef with the OS being buggy.

Also, which other options are good to get. I'm thinking i want the 8 outs, maxed memory and a built in harddrive.

I have 1.71 on mine....stable for me

Try to buy it with the 8 outs included as to get these seperately can be quite expensive

Be aware, that although its possible to have both the 8 outs and ADAT card installed, you can only use one or the other at any one time, not both

A few of the Blue ones appear to have a Fatal Error Problem

i looked on Forat's website and it said 1.71 is the latest OS, so that's the one i'll use.

i def want to get the white 4000, i like the look better than the blue one anyway.

you got an internal harddrive in your 4000? i see some people using external rugged harddrives with their 4000's. i'd rather have an internal 80 or 120 gig harddrive.

def want to get it with the 8 outs and maxed memory. i would never use the adat outs, so that's all good.


how long you had your 4000? how you like using it?

i'm excited to try one. i like the mute group option and the amount of sample time it has. plus i think it has a really good sound. close to the 60 and 3000.

I love the mpc4k! Have an 80gig harddrive inside, as well as cd player
have mine for about 5 years now.
The qlinks / modulation matrix is really powerful
People say the mpc4k-z8 sound is quite clean compared to the mpc60 or mpc3k, but 24 bit is nice since it gives you more room in the mix

Nod,i highly recomend getting the digital option as its essential for "live sampling" and "live" recording to computer of crystal clear data.just fitted mine last week and am very happy..
