Buying A New MPC4000

Hi Guys

Hope I am in the right forum for this question.
I going to buy an MPC4000, but I am not sure whether to get an Internal hard drive with the machine, they said it would a Seagate Barracuda 40 gig, or not getting the internal hard drive and get and external Zip drive, say Iomega 250meg. Please could you give me some advice as to the pro’s and cons of either one.

internal harddrive will last you damn near a lifetime and you will carry your library around with you at all times
this is the best way to go in my opinion
Zips are removable storage.. good but data will not STAY in machine

Definitely use an internal hard drive with an MPC4K. I bought an MPC4Kle and put an 80 gb WD drive in it. BUT, back up all of your data, always. Hard drives fail sooner or later. You want duplicates of everything on CDs and/or another hard drive.

Drive manufacturers used to routinely guarantee their products for three years or more. Now it's usually one year = back up your files. Drives are cheap, $1/gb is not bad. Use www.pricewatch.com. I don't mean to make you untrusting of hard drives in general. They are an excellent, inexpensive storage medium. I've seen one of my drives last for over four years, but I've seen others die in 9 months. You don't want to see your hard work and creativity go bye-bye.

Looks like I will go internal.
Cheers great help this forum, hopefully one day and can be just as helpful. But I will be back as I know I have a big learning curve with my new MPC4000.
