First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the help I have been receiving with the 4k. The newbie Bible is a life saver!!! I've some serious fun getting to know this bad bish!!! So now I would like to give you all a status report from this past week...
Day 1: Copped this heavy mofo from the big homie for a price too low to repeat and took it to my night job (DJ at a Sports Bar). Found a nice place for her to sit and grabbed a clean damp rag and got to wiping her down. Hooked up my headphones and loaded some default drums. NOTHING!!! Oh...Like a dummy I forgot to assign the samples to the pads. (Didn't know at the time.) DUH! After my shift was over I took her home to rest. Used the manual to test all my buttons and pads and lets her sleep at the foot of my bed.
Day 2: Had to work... FUUUUUU---! But ok, I had some time to use Ak.sys to load my drum library (about 5 gigs worth). Simple copy and paste. Easy as pie, but took hella long... After RTFM all day at my day job I tried to wrap my head around the whole MULTI/PART/PROGRAM relationship. Still don't have it too figured out!
Day 3: Had to just make one beat because I was starving... Made a few keygroups and kits and started working out. Notice that my drums were cutting out early and I never changed the "ZONE", correct me if I'm wrong, to ONE SHOT. Fixed that and got back to knocking the pictures off walls down at the crib.
Day 4: Damn, I'm tired zzzzZZZZzzz
Day 5: Finally the day I've been waiting for... SAMPLE TIME!!!
Grabbed some well known samples from some well known songs (ARC Choir - Jesus Walks, Tom Brock - The love we share = SAY HELLO - JayZ) and started to recreate and remix. Learn to region chop and create new programs faster and faster!!!
Day 6: Started playing with the mute groups and making my chops sound sweeter and sweeter. FUNKY STUFF!!
Day 7: RESTED!!! Went to see my mom for Mother's day!! HOPE YOU BOUGHT HER SOMETHING NICE YOU BASTIDS!!
I will say this... the ref manual saved my ass a LOT this week along with the newbie bible! The 4k is a different breed of beast compared to the 2kXL! More to come very soon.. this week is not over yet....!
