Hi I have the mpk 49 and 4k hooked up together.
My question is:
How to operate different sounds on the keys and different sounds on the pads.
Let's say I want to have drums on the pads from the program in the sampler
and virtual instrument on the keys that are connected via midi with 4k together
Is that possible?
Also another question is there another way of changing the time corerction. Can I assign the time coreection to fader or knob?
So that when I am in note repeat mode I could switch the timing easy.

I don't have a MPK 49 but I used a KORG CONTROL 49 same thing a midi controller.
Our mpc 4k is a keygroup, sampler, drum sampler and sequencer. Basically our mPk keyboard sends midi notes to what track you are on example track 1. You assign a program to that track of the kit or instrument you want to play. Drums a drum program, piano a keygroup program. If you want to play a virtual instrument you need to change the track to a midi track. This in turn will send the notes on the track to external instruments aka (virtual synth) connected to the midi port out to your computer. This is midi basics 101.

To assign your controllers to mpc 4k internal parameters aka destinations you need to
Go to program pages to program matrix to set up control changes number like 11>>>volume>>>depth >>>100 and etc. Mainly you will use the mpk faders and knobs like qlinks on the mpc for envelope attack, pitch, cutoff and etc. The program matrix doesn't work for tempo change no!!!!! Or timing correct.

Other more advanced users use system syntax to program which made yield for what you are asking. But that is beyond me.

I work with mpc as sequencer and logic virtual instruments with weighted yamaha keys now.

Maybe You could help me with another things.
Can I make direct input monitoring while I am in the main screen.
It's cool to be able to listen to Your sequence while You record but It would be even better If I could listen to the signal from the input ( turntables for example) while being in the main screen, is that possible?
It is possible in 1K.
I am running the latest os. 1.7.1
Also Can I apply note repeat to the certain pads?
Is there other way to change the timing correction, other then rotating the data wheel? (when You in the note repeat mode)
Thank You for Your answers

No you can't from main but you can monitor in record page.

No.

It is possible in 1K.

RTM

No RTM FOR THE 4k not all mpc are the same. The easiest way to learn your unit is to read.

Thanks for Your help!

Yes I read the manual but I think there are some tricks that are not in the manual.
And some times is just easier just to ask the question here.
I hope I did not make anyone angry just by doing that.
Peace and Thank You again

You are welcome however everything I answered you with is straight from the manual. 4k is a 2002 model the 1k is 2004 or 2005 or more so alot of differences in the models. The basic owners manual explains this along with the comparsion thread on all the models.

The functions are not tricks they are part of the build in parameters so it is important to research your unit. On the other hand if you are looking for tricks and tips the tips and tricks section has alot of info also the newbie bible. I had to reread and reread and double read after experience on my 4k until everything sunk in coming from a 2xl, 1k, and 3k.

Whatever unit you have the manual is your best source reread it again. Else someone else is reading for you and that isn`t cool.

Bang on Player.

I`m learning my maschine and Trillian still yet so the learning process never stops. 8)

I have read the 2000xl manual about 5 times and 1k one time and now I have this pdf 4k manual and somehow it's so difficult to scroll those pages . I know it sounds so lame but yes I rather ask some experience users then scroll those pages. But I agree with You 100% I must read and reread manual few times.
My setup is 4k as a master connected to the logic (as a sound module - the video tutorial on this subject on Youtube is a winner) plus another connection to the MicroKorg as a bass module and then MPK49 as midi controller controlling both microkorg and logic. And I love the arpeggiator on the MPK49 which sends the midi to the MPC. but I would love to talk to someone who is using the mpk49 just to exchange the experiences. for example can I change the tracks in the MPC on the MPK which have this program change button but I know I have to setup this somehow. Anyway Thanks again for Your help Blue Haze Big Up

Reading long PDF's isn't good for your eyes, not the best solution for a manual particularly when you only have one monitor.

Make an investment, have a local print store PRINT OUT THE REFERENCE MANUAL IN ITS ENTIRETY and have it bound in such a way that allows you to leave it open on a desk.
