VELOCITY of pads not being Recorded correctly ??

Guys ive got a problem with my new MPC 4000. The problem is this:

The VELOCITY of my pads (when i strike them) are not as loud as they should be once i playback my recorded sequence.

IE: When i hit the pad (while its recording/live), i can hear the drum reasonably loud. HOWEVER, after i play the sequence i recorded back, the drum is NO-WAY as loud/present as how it sounded whilst i was actually hitting the pad.



? Whats going on ?
Anybody know anything about velocity issues??

Check your mixer. Could be whoever had it before you made a few adjustments here & there.

But its not the mixer mode which is the problem (bought this 4000 new), i wish it was.

Its weird though..
Because when i PLAYBACK my recorded sequence, SOMETIMES a drum will sound VERY faint (low velocity) when i actually hit the pad much harder (during record) and heard it play louder when i hit it.
And other times, it will playback at the same velocity i originally hit the pad at.. ??
So you could say it is intermittent..


I just think it kills the whole vibe/flow if i have to go back and MANUALLY adjust the Velocity of each hit the way i want in Step Edit MODE. It should be recording the velocity the exact way i play it in.

Very weird stuff..
Im actually really LOVING this machine, apart from this one big problem.

Its all good! I have worked out what the cause was. :>:>:> (im happy now!)
For any1 who may run into this issue in the future, here is the explanation for u: -->

If you hit a pad and the "Duration" of that recorded note/pad is LESS than a value of 2 (viewable in STEP EDIT MODE),
AND
the pads "ATTACK" setting is set to a value of 1 or greater (in PROGRAM MODE --> KG MIX --> EDIT 1) located in the AMP settings.

If you do these 2 things, than you will get the problem i described in my first post..

So basically, to avoid this:
- Your going to need to make the attack setting in the amp section zero, (if u want to be hitting the pads with LITTLE to NO "Duration"
OR
- Make sure you hit the pad with a SLIGHTLY greater duration than 2 if the ATTACK settings of your pad is set at 1 or more.
