Main button not working so good

I notice I gotta press my main button harder then the rest of my buttons ..is it easy to replace them? I was thinking if its possible to trade that button and tact switch for another button on the 4000 I don't use much ?

get a new tact switch... they only cost a few pennies.

1) Get your hands on the 4k service manual

2) Identify the exact switch/contact that needs replacing

3) Contact VST service for your replacement part

Done deal!

I have the same problem with up button on jog wheel. You have to do some soldering and desoldering. I swapped out tact switches on a 3K once. Be careful you can mess up your board. Mouser has them real cheap. I'm still trying to find out which ones. you can get 50 to 100 or so. Tact switches may eventually go bad. I'll let you know or if anyone knows the right ones. Thanks

I have zero solder experience and really love my mpc 4000 so afraid to replace myself gonna see what quotes I can get from vstservice idk

TRU-DAT. I killed my 2000XL trying to be a scientist. I don't think I used the right soldering pen or some ish, too. Thankfully, it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me because I had an excuse to get that good 4000! Whoa, the 4K is so ill.

Worked out for you. It's not that hard. I do IT and use to fix laptops and stuff. I said to myself why not. Some one made a video of it too. The 3000 wasn't that hard,easy what's you get going. If you are not confident let the experts do it.

Kaybee what did you do with the messed up 2000xl? scrap it for parts...maybe i can fix it
