Mr.Akai - Please implement this in an OS update...

Please can somebody ask 'Mr Akai' to do what loads of people (owners) want on this board.
For me and many others....please..please...pleassseee... enable us to have different tracks looping at different intervals (each with their own time signiture if so desires)
eg:
track 1 looping around 0.5 bar with 4/4 timing
track 2 looping around 2 bars with 4/4 timing
track 3 looping around 1 bar with 3/4 timing
track 4 looping around 4 bar with 3/4 timing
etc...etc....etc...

ps.. and for the mad headz, how about track 5 looping around 0.3 bar with 7/8 timing whilst were at it !!!

keep up the good work y'all, but...please...please..please... sort the above out for us. The people have been asking this for along time.

Well, we now also have Live4, a product that does a very nice job with MIDI and audio. It runs on a computer of course, and that's what killed the fun for me. Live4 also works with tracks of unequal length, in a very natural way.

I think that implementing the individual track length feature will indeed give the 4k a good boost and allow for some more experimental stuff. It will surely attract some people from the Yamaha and Live camps. And let's not forget the individual playback speed and offset options that are possible then. They could even add a reversed playback option, on a per track basis! Drool....

I 100% totally agree. As somebody who has come from LIve 3 to the MPC, it has
been a little interesting. I spend 12 hours a day on the computer at work, so the
last thing I want to do when I sit down and enjoy myself and make some music is a
computer screen (though the MPC 4000 is really a little computer screen).
Fortunately for me, I've only been working on new matarial for an upcoming show,
so haven't had to try to convert any of my Live stuff to the MPC. I think
some of it will be a challenge. Some of it will not as hard as I think. But depending
on the material, some may just have to stay in the oomputer with Live. I guess
I should set Live up, so that I'm controlling it all from the MPC.

I know that I've done what I can do, which is to write to [email protected] and
let them know that another warm body wants this feature.

Also, Rob, if they're going to implement forward and reverse, let's get them to do
Pendulum and Random Thought Random would be harder, in a non step environment.
I guess it would depend on the timing correctness setting that you are using for that
track.

Also, talking about Forward, Backwards, Pendulum, and Random, I believe
that they should implement those same features in the QLink sequencer. The
Qlink sequencer is basiclly a 16 step sequencer to automate different movement
of the Qlink knobs. That could add some nice variation to the automation of
those knobs. I'll send an email now to Akai on that.


But PLEASE implement the Varied Track Lengths feature first!


I have to say thanks to Rob for providing them with a paper that helps Akai get
past the Concept and Implentation and to the actual coding.


Maybe that will be one of the Christmas presents for new OS coming this Christmas.
