MPC DOESN'T Turn on with hard drive

Greetings

A friend of mine just got the Mpc 4000 he order the hard drive power cable along with the IDE cable.. he is the deal The mpc 4000 doesn't turn on with the hard drive in but without the hard drive it works perfectly fine.. The Hard drive is used but the power cable which supplies power to the hard drive is brand new from VST... Could anyone explain why this is happening?

Damn thats ugly fam, it could be that the hard drive is bad.

this should be quite obvious.

Look closely at the HD IDE cable and power lead. You might have an exposed wire contacting with metal, thus causing a short.
