I've had the 4k and 1k for a while now and as i've been gigging I have been mostly using the 1k. Coming back to the studio and 4k I have to admit I am struggling! I've got to say I find this one of the least intuitive machines I've ever used... somehow I'm still not swinging along with it like I do the mpc2k and 1k, I guess there is a lot more learn... I'm using it with an Alesis Andromeda and that is just as bad... but hard to even remember what you already learned with them....

they are both beautiful machines of course... and i'm lucky to have them. But I'm not having much FUN with either at the moment

a luxurious problem i guess :) maybe i should go off a play with my kaoss pads!!

Take it slow and learn only one at a time. I have had my 4k for over a year and I am still learning new things about this machine.

coming from a software background, I was surprised at how easy the MPC 4000 was to learn. I think if you use it at least once a week you should be able to keep it fresh in your memory. I hadn't used my ASR-10 for a month and couldn't remember how to do sh|t on it. I just kept messing with it though and remembered within about 30 mins or so.
