Ibunshi wrote:@yumyum.. a little humility never hurt anyone.. people doesnt have to be masters of anything to be able to teach you.. and likewise, someone that is very very good at something, can still learn from a complete newbie.. and this is because there no single person on earth that can possibly know everything, and therefore, no matter how much you know, you can still find more things to learn just by changing the angle of which you look at things.. and things are connected in far more ways that what people normally might think, and this means that you can learn things that would apply on the mpc, from something that you would think of as completely irrelevant.. a book, a painting, nature, a life situation.. so someone that would be considred to be very wise from a long life and having a lot of experience, could still find answers and discovering new things just from ideas coming from a litle kid. all about being as open minded as you possibly can, and try to draw experience out of everything i guess..

if someone search the truth, he can not allow a big ego as it will always cloud the answers somehow.. and humility will take you on a longer trip and let you see more things than what you would see if you only allowed the ego to hold the wheel.

if you are like me when it comes to learning, then you have not much use of manuals until you really get stuck, you just do things that feels right.. and i think it is perfectly ok to ask on a forum, and i think no one should question that method or why, as there can be many perfectly fine reasons to do so, and i think if people cant allow themselves to be helpful just because they dont agree with a certain method.. then i think it looks a bit small minded personally, and it also seems a bit selfish, which really is perfectly fine too really.. but by helping someone you may have a even bigger impact than by refusing to help.. however, if you really want to find out something, then you can aswell just put in time and find answers to your questions too, by searching or checking the manual.. thats just for general stuff though and doesnt really apply to conversation about different peoples methods

humility and being helpful is a good thing and it helps pushing things forward as a whole.. for example, i made some sample packs years ago containing my beats and some other stuff.. someone used those beats and got signed, tracks cut to vinyl and whatnot.. and even though one part of me says "it should have been me getting that release" i am also glad that i was part of something even if i never got any credit for it... but these kind of things allows someone to help inspiration and creativity even though you are not directly involved.

i totally understand why someone might not want to help or share secrets.. i get that too, but i think it is more based on fear of being made worthless because someone else manages to get what you have, your secret recipe, your methods..... so in a way it would threaten your personal "art" if you will.. (but imo, you should try to avoid depending on something that someone else can learn anyway if it are the type of things that you can learn easily just from reading, its different when it comes to the type of fingertip feeling that makes up a skill, it can only be learnt from practice, and thats just because people work differentlky and simply explaining does not work..and those are usually the things that allows you to be good even if you swap methods or gear.)

but if someones asks me direcly how i did this or that, then i will reply, because i think that ultimately, i have more to gain from doing so, than to look at myself as if what i know or the skills i have are only valuable if only i have them.. this way of looking at things can hinder you in your progress i think, compared to if you were to treat it all as being expendable.. try to be a teacher, but a teacher that does not know everything and that can see there is an infinite amount of knowledge to be found if you only had the time and patience too look at thinsg from every possible angle.. even if you studied and used the mpc for a hundred years you would still not be able to see it all and therefore also not be able to do it all.

i love working on the mpc, i know that i am good at certain things and not good at other things, but knowing that i am good will not make me think that i could not learn from someone that might never even have touched an mpc before

have no idea whay i am saying all this but feels a bit relevant in this thread

Thanks man, at least someone here gives a damm and isnt knocking me, all I get in everything I do is hate and criticism, why cant someone just one day say "hey, your shit is tight" Im sophmoric and immature I guess.

if we are all just jealous "do nothings", then why are you trying so hard to get the information we have?

Why do you put so many beats on your soundcloud?
learning to self edit is tantamount to becoming a great artist

PS you music is very sophomoric.

Im not trying to get the information that you guys have...so you mean to tell me that the information that you so called have is something that we all cant have? I thought we all owned MPC 4000's if this is a community, why cant we all share trade secrets or whatever, so you mean to tell me because I have a Blue MPC 4000 and you have the White One my secrets are worth more or less? We both have a 4000...I put my beats on soundcloud to save them to the net and for people to enjoy...I could care less if my music is sophmoric, Im just a Sophmore in the game, where are your beats at? let me judge you in such a way where you will feel like your music is worthless too.

Yum you are going to have to can it as the forum isn't just about you. It is about us the users. Alot of the earlier questions were in the first couple of pages of the manual especially about parameter functions like how to chop on the 4k and etc. In the future asking about are there other ways of chopping samples on the 4k may be better than just how to chop on the 4k? It sounds like mistakenly like you didn't take the time to read. However it is true that the manual won't explain how to make beats or give techniques. The production thread and the tips and tricks thread has plenty of that. Each one sharpen each others by thinking outside the box something unheard of. But if it is something from page five of the users manual that isn't helping the forum.

Ps I would never ask another producer about my beats that is just gassing you up. It is about fans and do they like it. Do you.

I like my music, I dont care what anybody says but it sucks when the people that you look up to for info and tips and tricks down you and make you feel like you shouldnt be doing something it is you truly like to do. I know how to chop on the 4k because I read the bible, i copied that to my phone and studied it until I learned how to chop, its not that I cant...I basically made this thread so that I could maybe help someone else out but everybody turns me into the bad guy and thats not cool.

Of course you have to love your music as it is an extension of you. But you have to have fans too. Remember we all start as fans of music because the group or artist's groove reached us. Band a isn't going to ask Band B if they are good or not? They are going to ask the audience.

No one can clown yo but you. You are your own man this is only the internet. Don't worry just show and prove and make music. Ibishi advice is true that you got to be humble and READ THE MANUAL no doubt.
Ask far as the manual is a necessary evil or godsend depends on your attitude.

My workflow is to study the masters past creation. That video in off section on Mobb Deep's Shook One's is a perfect example of chopping and flipping a sample into something new. Which isn't in the manual.

Remember we sharpen each other by posting questions that are outside the box. If I ask the basic parameter question that another user just saw on page 13 in the manual it helps nobody as they would think why didn't you just read it like they did.

By the way those technical terms does help you use the machine more as bars and measures are on the main page of your 4k. Offset, off velocity, and others understanding makes reading the crazy manual easily thus you can do more tricks on your mpc.

MoreBuck$ wrote:Dude, you offered a mastering service but a few tracks you've posted up here sounded terrible. Some of your compositions are fat but not my cup of tea.
I don't wanna be seen as just ragging on you but you hit this forum a while ago and you annoyed quite a few people and NOOBED it up for the first few weeks. The whole picture of what you say, you can do, the gear you own and your experience just doesn't all fit together.

BUCKS....SLap Yourself, if you want to see when I had 2 MPC's simultaneously Check out this video.
