Who uses their MPC with soft synths/samplers?

In other words, who slaves their computer to the mpc? i'm considering an mpc but sold all my hardware. i'd love just to use the mpc but reckon it's just not possible.

So anyone using a laptop as a slave or stand up pc? and how do you integrate?

I do it all the time. I use a 002 rack for audio and midi. When I just want to use the soft synths I load a program called plogue bidule. (www.plogue.com) Bidule is very simple application used to host the virtuals while using very little cpu power. I then send midi out from the MPC to the VSTi. When I'm happy with my part, I sample it via light-pipe back into the MPC and assign the new sound to a pad, chop it up, etc., then add it to my sequence. I then can repeat the process as many times as I need to.

All you really need is 1x1 USB midi device to send midi to the computer and some sort audio playback device.

I open SONAR...set up audio tracks and MIDI tracks and insert VSTs there. There is nothing to sync up cuz I'm not using the SONAR sequencer. Once I get something I like, I can multi track it right into SONAR.
